✒ In today's dynamic corporate milieu, sustainability🌳stands as a pivotal cornerstone of strategic vision. ✔ 👉 The urgency of our environmental and societal challenges demands 🚧 not just acknowledgment but proactive engagement from businesses. It is within this context that the synthesis of sustainability and profitability emerges as a paramount directive for top management professionals. 🍁 The seminal collaboration between MIT Sloan Management Review and the Boston Consulting Group unveils a compelling narrative: 👉 While 90% of executives perceive sustainability as imperative, a mere 60% of enterprises have operationalized sustainable strategies. 🌩 This dissonance underscores a critical imperative for corporate leaders—to pivot from mere recognition to strategic integration. ✍ Crafting a robust sustainability agenda isn't merely an act of altruism; it's a judicious investment in long-term viability and competitive advantage. 🙋♂️ By cultivating a sustainable ethos, organizations mitigate risk, foster innovation, and fortify stakeholder trust. The strategic deployment of sustainable practices isn't a cost center; it's a conduit to enhanced profitability and enduring relevance in a rapidly evolving marketplace. #CorporateLeadership #StrategicVision #SustainableGrowth #BusinessInnovation #StakeholderTrust #EnvironmentalStewardship #SocialResponsibility #ThoughtLeadership #ESG #Sustainability #Safety

As we talk about how important it is to care for our planet at work, we need to work together and share insights, strategies, and best practices for effectively integrating sustainability into the core of executive leadership. It's time for change. Our planet, society and businesses themselves are at risk due to an economic system that still tolerates organisations that exploit people and harm our world. Businesses can no longer ignore the importance of sustainability. In fact, 86% of business leaders see sustainability as an investment that protects their organisation from disruption. Yet less than 10% of CEOs have made it their top priority. Are you committed to closing that gap? We're putting the spotlight on what it takes to be a future-fit business leader - from better managing stakeholder expectations to adapting to an increasingly volatile operating context. Change is hard. Whether it’s rolling out a new system, restructuring a team, or changing a process. Change can be inconvenient, ambiguous, and threatening. Resistance to change comes in many forms but is driven by one thing; no clear answer to the question ‘What’s in it for me’. This question can be tricky to answer for sustainability professionals. We recognize #sustainability as a driver of long-term success. But there's a catch. Business leaders here and now might not directly benefit from the fruits of future success. So, ‘what is in it for me?’ Remuneration. Most ASX100 companies now include #ESG metrics in executive incentive plans. Research has shown that organizations that adopt longer-term incentives for executives invest more in innovation and stakeholder relationships than peers, and ultimately achieve greater enterprise value and operating performance. In short, rewarding sustainability performance contributes to long-term success. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gDDkgNep #SustainabilityIncentives

A joined up approach is always far more effective.
A carbon reduction plan starts with people and culture. Simply ticking boxes is not sustainable. You need to understand your "why". To make real change that sticks, business leaders need to shift the mindset from the top down. Focusing towards collective goals. It's what makes the difference🌍 That's why we challenge the norm. We create a roadmap as part of your ESG strategy plan and educate staff through collaborative workshops. Reducing carbon in the built enviornment is fairly straightforward! As 2024 comes to a close, we're taking a look back on some of our most-read content this year. Our next spotlighted piece is a report written by BSR’s Chief Impact Officer Laura Gitman and Managing Director, BSR Innovation Group David S. Korngold: The CSO at a Crossroads: Three Paths Forward for Sustainability Leaders. While more visible and valued than ever before, heightened expectations and pressures are placing the Chief Sustainability Officer at risk of becoming overly focused on compliance at the expense of innovation and strategic foresight. Amidst a backdrop of rapid changes in the sustainability landscape, BSR interviewed more than 30 CSOs to hear their perspectives on this dichotomy and understand where success can be found through professionalization and integration of this function. From these discussions, three potential paths forward emerged through which CSOs can: illuminate new business opportunities; advocate for systemic change; and ensure that sustainability remains a priority at the highest levels of corporate decision-making. In this report, go inside the mind of a CSO and explore avenues for maximum impact in the field of sustainable business: https://lnkd.in/eMSexCbe #sustainablebusiness #sustainablefuture #businesstransformation #governance

Thanks to the many Chief Sustainability Officers that attended and contributed at the Moir Group ESG round table this morning. There are some great takeaways below. We are planning a series of these next year. If you would like to join us please let Lisa Tracy Manager Moir Group ESG know. #esg #sustainability #moirgroup
Lisa Tracy Manager Moir Group ESG and Stephen Moir were privileged to host our Chief Sustainability Officer Round Table today, where sustainability leaders from finance, tech, retail, and education sectors shared invaluable insights on embedding ESG into corporate strategy. A great way to round out the year! Key takeaways from our rich discussion: - The evolution of sustainability from compliance to strategic value driver requires unwavering CEO support and board-level engagement. Executive sponsorship emerged as the cornerstone of successful sustainability initiatives. - While data integrity remains crucial, the consensus was clear: don't let perfect be the enemy of good. Start acting while building robust measurement frameworks. - Cross-functional collaboration, particularly between sustainability and finance teams, is transforming how organisations approach ESG integration and reporting. - Nature-based solutions present both opportunities and measurement challenges, highlighting the need for enhanced policy frameworks and public-private partnerships. - The rising influence of institutional investors is driving greater transparency and strategic approaches to sustainability, moving beyond mere compliance. Encouraging to see how sustainability leaders are navigating these challenges while building resilient, future-ready organisations. The conversation highlighted that success lies in balancing compliance requirements with strategic opportunities, all while maintaining focus on authentic stakeholder engagement. Thank you to all participants for sharing their experiences and insights. The depth of discussion reflects the growing strategic importance of sustainability in shaping corporate futures. #Sustainability #ESG #CorporateStrategy #Leadership #ClimateAction
