The Science of the Positive framework is based on the core assumption that the Positive is real, it exists and is worth growing - in ourselves, our families, our workplaces and our communities (Linkenbach, 2007). This is not just about positive thinking, but is based on the concept that if we want health, we must promote health! This new view of the world profoundly impacts the questions we ask, the data we collect, and how we approach leadership. This great work is happening in communities across the country with exceptional outcomes in prevention and health promotion. Supporting the political determinants of health acknowledges the critical role that policies and government actions play in shaping health outcomes. This approach recognizes that health disparities are not just medical issues but are deeply influenced by socio-political factors, such as laws, regulations, and resource allocation. By advocating for fair and equitable policies, supporting social justice, and focusing on the broader social determinants of health, we can create a healthier, more inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to live their healthiest life. This perspective encourages a comprehensive strategy to public health that includes addressing economic, educational, and environmental factors, ensuring a holistic approach to health and well-being.

Health is more than just medical care. Last week, we published and began the first stages of the Convergence Collaborative on Social Factors of Health Blueprint for Action release! The Collaborative met for several months to come to a consensus on solutions for creating the best policy environment for local efforts and partnerships to improve household and community health by addressing social factors of health (also known as social determinants of health or SDOH). These convenings were supported with generous financial support by CommonSpirit Health, the Episcopal Health Foundation, and Kaiser Permanente. Their commitment to the Convergence process of building consensus among people and organizations with different views and priorities made the project possible. #SDOH #SocialFactorsOfHealth #SocialDriversofHealth #SocialDeterminantsofHealth
