Happy holidays to everyone celebrating. No doubt 2024 has been a remarkable year for our Firm with transactions already counting for more than EUR30bn in deal value. It is not typical for the Danish market to have transactions of this magnitude, and we are very pleased to have been part of all of these landmark achievements. We are also very pleased to have welcomed so many wonderful new partners to the Firm. Our #NextLevel journey is also about adding leadership, experience and lighthouse competences to the top of the Firm. We believe in strong and clear leadership participation and direction in everything that we set out to do. This is also reflected in the Firm's position when it comes to situations where false moral equivalence is being displayed and moral clarity is shattered. That goes for the awful war in Ukraine and it goes for Israel's wars with its jihadi and genocidal terrorist adversaries. There are still 99 hostages in Gaza. One of them is a Danish citizen. The silence is chilling. There has been more press coverage and political interest in Denmark in a handful of Danish citizens and their children returning from voluntarily(!) joining and fighting for ISIS than about our Danish hostage in Gaza. Or about the hostages per se. Many from EU countries and the USA and UK. What a moral collapse. In times like these, it is also particularly important that we as lawyers and as law firms call out any attempts to corrupt the international legal systems that our leaders have put in place for just and meaningful purposes. We shall also call out the false use of defined terms in legal contexts, which can stir up civil unrest; like "genocide". Words do mean something. A TikTok video or Instagram post does not change that. We may for various reasons find it a little funny-evil to be thinking of Benjamin Netanyahu on the stand. But when it will be Danish soldiers who have fought our wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya that the ICC will be issuing arrest warrants for due to its illegal and expansive jurisdictional doctrine, then I am confident we will all be ashamed about our silence. A silence that our forefathers were ashamed of and therefor promised us: Never Again! Happy holidays - let us all remember why we can celebrate in peace.
