Management safety walk-around, Demonstrating Commitment: Safety walk-arounds demonstrate management’s commitment to improving safety and health by finding and fixing hazards. They show that safety is a priority and that leaders actively engage in identifying risks. Assessing Program Effectiveness: Walk-arounds allow managers to see firsthand how the safety and health program is functioning. They assess whether the program effectively identifies and eliminates hazards. Additionally, managers can evaluate worker engagement, training effectiveness, and incident reporting processes Here are some key steps for conducting safety walk-arounds Pre-Inspection Activities: Familiarize yourself with the workplace, operations, and previously identified hazards. Identify hazardous areas based on past inspection reports, injury records, and near-miss incidents. Discuss safety concerns with safety representatives and other managers. Determine the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and practice wearing it. Onsite Inspection Activities: Wear appropriate PPE for each area you enter. Focus on easily observable hazards like tripping hazards, blocked exits, and exposed electrical wires. Post-Inspection Follow-Up: Address identified hazards promptly. Look for property damage and ensure corrective actions are taken. #ehs #safety #walkdown #ehsprofesnol
