We want to make your climbing gym a hit with families 🌟 Here are some tips to create a welcoming atmosphere for all ages: (1) Designate Auto Belay Areas: Set up a specific zone for auto belays, or place them close together. This makes it easy for families to climb side-by-side and ensures safety is always within view. (2) Kid-Friendly Routes: Opt for routes under auto belays with shorter reaches to accommodate smaller climbers. (3) Introduce climbing games: They’re perfect for kids to explore and enjoy while developing key climbing skills. (4) Family Time: Use auto belays to let parents and kids climb together. It’s a fantastic way to bond and make climbing a shared activity. (5) Safe Play Areas: Ensure your gym has padded floors and beginner-friendly sections for kids to get comfortable and build confidence safely. Have you taken steps to make your gym more family-friendly? Share your ideas and experience in the comments! Thinking about All Season cycling, winter biking or outdoor sports activities? Wanting to bike or jog to work instead of sitting in traffic? FANTASTIC!! With temperatures dropping it’s important to remember that your lungs prefer humid and warmer air. Not only do they prefer it but they can be damaged by inhaling air that is too cold and dry (trust me I know first hand, I damaged mine before I understood the science and it can take YEARS for your lungs to semi-recover). Using a neck tube, balaclava, ski mask, or scarf greatly reduce the risk of injury or damage to your lungs. How does it work? Knit materials or insulative materials work by trapping air in the spaces of fabric. The air flow slows down and your own body energy helps to heat it up. The trapped air molecules also rebound off each other in a tighter space creating their own heat from the energy generated from increased interactions. When you breath in this trapped air, it has warmed up from the open air outside. This is a good article from the University of Alberta and cold air and lungs. https://lnkd.in/gCj-htax If you are going to be active in very cold weather, think of layering or using double knit products. The layering traps more air and and moves it through to your airways slower but also creates more opportunities for air pockets between the material spaces. In addition, it provides a greater barrier from wind that tries to push cold air through. For those with outdoor active children, kids may not recognize lung discomfort. Coughing and wheezing while outside are their lungs asking for warm air and becoming irritated.

Did you know that kids need even more activity and exercise than adults in their lives to stay healthy? Children aged 5-18 should be getting 60 minutes per day! All parents need a good arsenal of ideas to keep kids busy, especially during the holidays. Here are some cheap activities you could try: 🥳 Dance Party: Musical statues, learn a dance or just party! 🤹 Skipping challenge: Get a cheap skipping rope and set them a challenge. 🌿 Nature Scavenger Hunt: Make walks more exciting by doing a 'spotting list', getting friends along, or going to places where they can clamber and make dens. 🎈 Balloon volleyball: All you need is some space and a balloon. 🛴 Bike or scooter ride: Why not take a picnic and make a day of it? 🪀 Simon Says: Add physical actions like jumping jacks, hopping, or skipping. 🏃🏼♂ DIY obstacle course: Jump over cushions, make a laser maze & crawl under tables. The making is half the fun. Older kids need some different thinking though. What about frisbee golf, letting them organise games like rounders or French cricket with friends, or parkour? And don't forget the classics - roller skating, swimming and cycling.
