In 2023-24 the Health Innovation Network delivered national programmes and initiatives that benefitted over 1,228,000 patients, created wealth and health by leveraging £467m through its support to innovators, and worked alongside health and care teams to tackle some of the NHS’s most pressing challenges including cardiovascular disease, patient safety and health inequity. Research shows that as many as 50% of health problems are discovered during emergency room visits. Most of those detections come at a critical stage. This issue clearly highlights one of the biggest pain points that our health care system faces – reactive response to disease.
