Here’s a breakdown of potential causes and some nutritional strategies that might help: 1️⃣ Pins & Needles (Neuropathy) ↳ Cause: Often a sign of nerve compression or neuropathy, frequently related to diabetes or vitamin deficiencies. ↳ Nutritional Support: Ensure adequate intake of Vitamin B12, B6, and Folic Acid, as deficiencies in these can affect nerve health. Foods like eggs, fish, and leafy greens are great sources. 2️⃣ Burning Sensation ↳ Cause: Can be linked to conditions like peripheral neuropathy, poor circulation, or chronic inflammation. ↳ Nutritional Support: Anti-inflammatory foods, like omega-3 fatty acids from salmon, walnuts, and chia seeds, can help reduce inflammation. 🌱 Supporting Disease-Challenged Broiler Chickens Through Nutrition 🐔 A recent study from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign sheds light on how nutritional strategies can support broiler chickens battling coccidiosis, a common parasitic infection that impacts nutrient absorption and growth. 🔬 Key Insights: While vaccines and anticoccidials are essential, nutrition can provide crucial support during outbreaks. The research emphasizes a holistic approach by simultaneously evaluating the roles of major nutrients. The optimal diet for coccidiosis-challenged birds included 35.8% starch, 8.9% oil, and 101.3% of recommended amino acids, significantly enhancing body weight gain compared to traditional diets. Notably, an oil inclusion of 9% was found to be effective, despite being higher than industry norms, due to the parasite's impact on lipid absorption. 🧬 Methionine Requirements: The study also highlighted the importance of methionine, the first limiting amino acid. It found that the methionine requirement increases during coccidiosis infections, suggesting a need for dietary adjustments to promote better growth outcomes.
