The One Hack I Wish I Knew Before Starting a Career in Medical Laboratory Science When I first stepped into the world of medical laboratory science, I thought success would be about mastering technical skills and understanding diagnostics. And while that’s true, I’ve realized there’s one secret that can make or break your career in this field: Collaboration is everything. Sure, we’re the experts behind the scenes, running complex tests and providing doctors with the data to make life-saving decisions. However, the true impact of our work lies in how well we communicate and collaborate with the larger healthcare team. Here’s what I wish someone had told me on Day 1: 👉 It’s not just about the results; it’s about the story they tell. Learning how to explain findings in a way that clinicians can act on quickly. 👉 Build relationships with other departments. Strong connections with pathologists, nurses, and doctors can streamline processes and improve patient outcomes. 👉 Stay curious and open to feedback. Sometimes, clinicians’ questions will challenge you to think beyond the lab—embracing it as an opportunity for growth. If I’d understood the power of collaboration earlier, I would have saved countless hours navigating miscommunications and seen even greater patient impact from our work. #MedicalLaboratoryScience #HealthcareCollaboration #CareerTips #LabLife

Making the move from a medical role to one in industry often feels overwhelming. My clients have usually spent hours googling alternative medical careers/jobs before they reach out to me. They often tell me that the more they look, the more confused they are! And it’s no surprise, there’s so many opportunities for medics to transition into but navigating that process can be tricky. When you work with me, you will receive access to all my resources – one of them is a structured, Excel spreadsheet which clearly headlines all of the areas you need to be thoroughly researching and importantly, collating and documenting that information in to black and white. That’s makes the process of change so much easier than have it all bubbling away in your head! If you are looking to gain clarity and direction in seeking an alternative medical career, book in for a free consultation. https://lnkd.in/eR8zQucj #careerchange #alternativemedicalcareers #careerdirection
