Medical humanitarianism is an essential approach to providing healthcare in crisis settings. So far what does Medical Humanitarianism mean to me. 1. Patient-Centered Approach: Prioritizes saving lives and alleviating suffering. 2. Crisis Response: Focuses on immediate, life-saving interventions in emergencies. 3. Equity in Care: Addresses health inequities by reaching marginalized and underserved populations. 4. Neutrality and Impartiality: Operates without taking sides in conflicts or being influenced by political or economic agendas. 5. Adaptability: Emphasizes flexibility in response, adjusting to the needs of diverse populations and changing crisis dynamics. 6. Collaboration: Works closely with governments, NGOs, and local communities for sustainable impact. 7. Cultural Sensitivity: Respects local beliefs, practices, and customs while delivering medical care. 8. Advocacy: Raises awareness of the human impact of crises and challenges to accessing healthcare. Medical humanitarianism is more than healthcare—it’s a commitment to humanity, equity, and impartiality. Let’s continue to uphold these values in our work. #Humanitarianism #GlobalHealth #MedicalCare #Equity #Refugee #Advoacay #Impartiality #Neutrality #Medical_Ethics

In #SouthSudan, providing #medicines and health services to much of the country is a challenging task. The road network is limited and during wet season 60% of the country is flooded. The Boma Health Initiative (BHI), which is part of the Health Pooled Fund and managed in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, works to ensure marginalised communities can access basic medical services. Boma Health Workers (BHW) are trained in a standardised package of health services to support to their communities. This includes on issues such #safemotherhood, #familyplanning, sexual and gender-based violence, and identification and treatment of simple illnesses.
