The Qualities of Being ALIVE AWARE AWAKE! The Seven C’s In the English language we have the same pronunciation for many words that are spelled differently and each one has an entirely different meaning.  For example: Sees …  we do this with our body / our eyes.  We experience clarity and light when our physical eyes are open.  When our 6th Chakra Third Eye is open we also see more clearly and experience insights from our personal unconscious and our collective unconscious. Seas … we sail the seas in calm or stormy weather.  The ocean and seas on our planet are all one body of water connected. They are the source of life out of which we evolved.  They are also a metaphorical symbol of the feminine energy and our emotions. Powerful qualities that are beneficial to expanding into being even more Alive Aware Awake are words beginning with the letter C.  When we express these qualities, they allow us to see more clearly the truth of who we really are, even in the emotional storms of our life. 🔻The Intruiging Spiritual Side of Ikebana🔻 In Shinto, Japan's indigenous spirituality, the belief in kami is central. Kami are spirits that inhabit natural phenomena, objects, and even humans, representing everything from ancestral spirits to the forces of nature. One intriguing aspect of Shinto is its view on sacred trees, or shinboku, which are believed to house divine spirits. These revered trees, often marked by shimenawa (sacred rope), signify the presence of kami and are treated with utmost respect and care. This belief in the sacredness of nature underscores the broader Shinto principle of living in harmony with the environment, promoting a life of gratitude and respect for the natural forces that sustain us. Ikebana, deeply influenced by Shinto's marvel of nature, embodies the harmony between humans and the natural world. This art form mirrors the respect shown to sacred trees in Shinto, capturing the essence of nature through the thoughtful arrangement of flowers and branches. This passage emphasizes the nurturing and life-giving qualities of the Tao, symbolized by the "mysterious female." The valley represents openness, receptivity, and the source of all creation. Unlike the rigid and dominating forces of the world, this spirit embodies gentleness and strength. By embracing the qualities of the mysterious female, we learn the importance of humility, adaptability, and nurturing in our lives. It reminds us that true power lies not in force, but in the ability to flow with life, creating harmony and balance. In honour of women’s day, let’s celebrate the harmonious interplay of Yin and Yang energies within each of us and within society. The picture represents Quan Yin, a revered figure in Buddhist and Taoist traditions, appearing as either male or female. Quan Yin is associated with compassion, mercy, and unconditional love. Whether we identify as man or woman, let’s honour the ‘Yin’ qualities traditionally attributed to women, such as intuition, compassion, creativity, nurturing. From this base, we can better develop our ‘Yang’ qualities, including our actions, our strength and our assertiveness. Yang is rooted in Yin. What do you most deeply want to happen? At your core, what would you like the Universe to bring you? What does your heart song ask for? Most people don’t know. They’ve never taken the time to think about it, or their answers are generated by the negative ego and are materialistic in nature. But they don’t know. Take a moment, right now, to close your eyes and breathe. Allow the flow of your breath to take you inward, into that space at the center of your chest. Bring all of your attention and all of your focus into that space. Ask the question: what is it I most deeply want to happen? Accept whatever comes back to you without analysis and without judgment. That is the answer of your heart song. Now that you know what it is, what will you do about it? #HeartSong

Hanami - make the most of every moment. In Japan the word for admiring the cherry blossoms is "hanami".To witness the "sakura", this stunning springtime event of cherry blossom in Japan, which generally starts at the end of March or early April, is something on my experience or life list. One of the main symbolic meanings of cherry blossoms is the transience of life and the fleeting nature of beauty. This notion reminds us to cherish the present moment and appreciate the beauty around us before it fades away. It's a poignant reminder that life is short and we should make the most of every moment. I'm reading "mother tongue" at the moment and the connection, beauty as well as interesting observation here is - there is a word to describe "admiring the cherry blossom." To name something is to label, to identify something that "is" and/ or "happens frequently." The book shares that in early ages people kept within their provence and didn't travel to far, so in central Europe, and places of large land mass, there were no words for Sea, but also Window (homes needed to secure against elements, animals and attackers) and Horse (they used cattle to plough and didn't travel far so horses were not trafficked and remained to indigenous areas). For me, I have Hanami without actually witnessing it yet - I appreciate the word for what it is and suggests: "there is beauty to be found amongst us, in observing and truly listening to both what's been said and missing amongst what's said" that creates depth and connection. Therefore I hope this image and note encourages a practice to break the modern habit "of listening for an opportunity to speak" and make the most of every moment.

Koi Fish: A Quiet Symbol of Japan’s Spirit When we guide groups through Japanese gardens, one of the most peaceful moments is stopping by a koi pond. There’s something captivating about watching these vibrant fish glide through the water, each movement calm and purposeful. Koi are symbols of resilience and strength, you can almost feel their energy as they move gracefully through the water. One thing we love sharing with travelers is that koi aren’t just admired in ponds, they appear throughout Japanese culture, especially in art and textiles. Look closely, and you might spot koi patterns on kimonos, where they represent courage and the journey to overcome obstacles. It’s amazing how these simple, graceful fish have inspired designs that carry so much meaning. In Japanese folklore, koi are celebrated for their determination. They’re known for their ability to swim upstream, facing every obstacle with quiet strength. Legend even says that koi who complete this journey transform into dragons, a reward for their perseverance. I couldn’t stop crying… It had been days of relentless shedding while I was cleaning my father’s house out and I was at that part of your tank where the car’s still going but you’re certain it should be stopping at any moment. I knew I needed a refill but had no capacity to solve that dilemma for myself. My great friend and long time business partner Trey Hilberg had called to check in on me and man did I spill all the tea and my guts. He told me he thought I could find a personal gas station in a book called Reboot by Jerry Colona. That call impacted my life in a way I could have never seen coming. Jerry introduced me to Pema Chodron and “When Things Fall Apart”. Those two books together have done more for my growth and for my recovery from loss than anything else by several magnitudes. In very different ways they are the masters (in the old Japanese samurai sense of the term) amongst us. Jerry’s words below are the impetus of the business management and coaching paradigm I practice and coach. Regardless if it’s a law firm, a cannabis operation, or a giant software company when things get jumbled, the pace gets too fast, the resources too thin, the drama or stress too high…the solution map is always the same. Stop. Go back to step 1. SELF. I truly love these two souls and I’ve never met either one. That’s the kinda impact you can make when you live from the perspectives they teach.
