Does this patient survey shock you? I sure hope so. The majority of our patients require multiple attempts to place an IV or have their blood drawn. What other invasive procedure fails so frequently on the first attempt? Why is this torture allowed to continue? My thoughts on why: 1) Patients don't know that we as health care professionals can and should be doing better. They don't know that the person attempting their lab draw/placing their IV hasn't been fully trained and shown to be competent in doing so. And why don't patients know better...? 2) Because most staff don't know that we can and should be doing better. They don't know that best practice means using vein visualization or ultrasound and that "no blind sticks" is a standard practice. So why don't our staff know better...? 3) Because most leaders don't know that their facilities are behind the times. It is 2024, and ultrasound and vein visualization have been a standard for years. So why aren't these technologies implemented in all facilities? If your leaders don't know, your staff certainly won't know and will therefore not be supported to use these technologies to improve first-stick success. Please share this information with your leaders, but better yet - share it with your patients and patient families, or your own loved ones, because at the end of the day, WE are all patients and family members of patients. We need to speak up to put an end to this torture. #oneanddone #stopthetorture

BD’s survey hits home. So many patients could benefit from fewer needlesticks, and we strongly share their ‘One-Stick Hospital Stay’ vision. Patients and nurses are asking for change, but awareness is still missing. At Idris Oncology, we apply this vision by ensuring our #WireTrap can be inserted through existing IVs. We want to offer samples with more cancer biomarkers without additional needlesticks or drawing blood. How can we spread the word about innovations that truly put patient experience first? #OneStickHospitalStay #patientexperience #cancer #innovation

🌍 Men represent about 10% of the global nursing workforce. As we strive for a more diverse and inclusive healthcare community, it is essential to recognize the vital roles male nurses play in patient care and support. Let’s continue to break down stereotypes and encourage more men to enter this rewarding profession, where they can make a positive impact on the lives of patients and their families. #MenInNursing #NursingCommunity #InclusiveHealthcare #DiversityInNursing
