On June 19th, 2024, I had the privilege of participating in a Zoom meeting in Shiraka program. The focus Challenges within Libya's entrepreneurship ecosystem 🇱🇾 . The virtual gathering brought together key players, including the The Hague Academy for Local Governance team, Netherlands Embassy in Libya team , and Netherlands enterprise agency (ROV ) team . A big thank you to the 40 mentors from Ukraine, Germany, Poland, Canada, Romania, Lithuania, Czechia, Latvia, France, Moldova, and Egypt for becoming mentors of the ‘Just Transition through Entrepreneurship’ project! We officially launched one of the vital parts of the project's Businesses Track, which aims to support SMEs in Ukraine's Lviv and Volyn regions. The mentoring component is designed to offer personalized support to participants, address their unique challenges, and leverage the distinct benefits of dedicated mentoring. The overarching goal is to support economic stability and development. Mentoring is a powerful enabler, creating a positive ripple effect on entrepreneurs and ecosystems and contributing to a more interconnected global mindset. The ‘Just Transition through Entrepreneurship’ program aims to support Ukraine’s green recovery and just transition amidst structural changes, economic challenges, and war-induced disruptions by providing holistic support for aspiring entrepreneurs, existing entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurial support organizations. With resilience and vision, these ambitious alumni completed all 10 training modules, equipping themselves with the skills and confidence to boldly pursue sustainable entrepreneurship. Their success highlights the immense potential of Iraqi youth, who represent not only the future but also a driving force behind the country’s economic transformation. Since 2020, we have empowered over 5,500 young people, with 500 dynamic entrepreneurs already launching their own businesses. These numbers tell a powerful story of hope, innovation, and opportunity.
