Hendrik Mathis Drößler’s Post

🌍 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀! 🌍 I am thrilled to announce that I will be presenting a paper at the 𝟭𝟯𝘁𝗵 𝗨𝗡 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘂𝗺 titled "𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀?", organized by the 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗡 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 and Leuphana Universität Lüneburg on October 25-26. 💼 My paper, "𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗖𝗝'𝘀 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲", builds on my LL.M. thesis and addresses a key issue in international law: 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗜𝗖𝗝) and 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗮𝘄. While provisional measures have garnered significant attention, 𝗜 𝗮𝗿𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗖𝗝 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, challenging the dominant view that the Court does not monitor post-ruling implementation. 📖 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲: - A doctrinal framework advocating the ICJ’s 𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 over compliance monitoring. - A comparison with the ICJ’s role in provisional measures and state responsibility. - A critique of existing perspectives, proposing an approach that leans more towards positive law than judicial activism. I am eager to contribute to the discussions and engage with fellow researchers on these timely and important issues. 📅 If you're interested, you can find more details about the conference: https://lnkd.in/etF5Sm-8 Looking forward to connecting with others who share an interest in international law and global governance! #InternationalLaw #ICJ #Compliance #UNResearch #GlobalGovernance #LeuphanaUniversity #InternationalCourtofJustice #UnitedNations
