Camden is a vibrant, multicultural borough, with 45.4% of Camden residents born outside the UK, contributing to its rich diversity, albeit with significant socio-economic challenges: - At 41%, Camden has the second-highest poverty rate in London. - Camden faces the worst housing affordability in the capital. - London’s Black and Asian communities have been disproportionately affected by the cost-of-living crisis. - Over 2 in 5 Bangladeshis and nearly 1 in 3 Black Londoners live in overcrowded housing conditions in Camden, which is considerably higher than the UK average. - There has been a 39% rise in hate crimes all over London in 2023 compared to 2022. Our incredible community researchers are examining the impact of structural racism on housing, education, employment, and safety across the borough. Findings from our research will inform policy recommendations aimed at key development areas, such as enhancing community infrastructure, improving educational quality with better cultural training and diverse curriculum design, and fostering pathways to employment through collaboration with local businesses. Join us in working to address and dismantle racial inequalities in Camden, and creating more just and inclusive communities for all!

Small businesses play a vital role in our economy. As we gear up for the holiday season, here are just a few reasons why supporting local establishments is so important: 💡 Money spent locally typically stays in the community, supporting jobs and fueling growth. 🛍️ Many small businesses offer one-of-a-kind, locally sourced items you won’t find in big stores. 🤝 Enjoy a more personal, friendly shopping experience with local business owners. 💪 Local businesses often support schools, events, and charities, fostering community connections.

We had a full room of local #business owners to attend the presentation from our #Mayor and Councillor, Sallie Barker, MBE. The #variety of her life experiences shaped her #values and guided her decisions in her choices in life. If you get the chance, do invite her as a guest at local events ... she is engaging, is interested and wants to help. We all need her as Mayor and Councillor, to make things happen. To shine a light on small charities to raise awareness, to make connections within the community, to listen and work with the councillors and to highlight all the good work carried out by unpaid volunteers. #guildford #surrey #business #councillor

The Commissioning Process Disadvantages Small Charities Our Regional Manager Gary Beharrell speaks with Civil Society Media Ltd about how small charities are at the mercy of the commissioning process. "While the whole commissioning process has been designed in a way that disadvantages small charities, it can be improved through more collaborative working. "Many of the commissioning processes I hear about are complex, with mountains of paperwork, and short timeframes for completing applications. "Larger organisations have the resources to hire teams dedicated to bidding on these types of contracts. "Not the small local organisation who are at capacity already, everyone involved in delivery and no one to complete the required paperwork for commissioners."
