I am thrilled to announce that my PhD student, Yicang GUO, has successfully defended his thesis on "Thermodynamic Modelling of Mixture Related to Absorption Refrigeration Systems (ARS), and CO2 Mixtures Related to CCUS." During his PhD, Yicang published a total 4 papers, and 2 more during his master. https://lnkd.in/eB-vu4Em His PhD deals with two main topics: * The VLE measurements and modeling of water-ionic liquid mixtures as working pairs for ARS systems. * The development of a quadrupolar molecular model for CO2 within the multipolar M-SAFT-VR Mie model, enabling accurate predictions of the phase behavior of CO2 + refrigerant and CO2 + alkane mixtures, all without using any binary interaction parameters. This marks a remarkable milestone in Yicang’s academic journey, and his work will have impact on refrigeration systems and carbon capture and storage (CCUS) technologies. 𝟗𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐠, 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚 Hey everyone! I am sharing my experience at the conference two weeks ago. It was a fantastic opportunity to network with professionals from various universities and learn from some of the best in the research. The keynote speakers were inspiring, and I took away so many valuable insights and strategies that I can apply to my background. The breakout sessions were also incredibly informative and I could dive deeper into topics I'm passionate about. But what stood out to me was the conference's sense of community and collaboration. Seeing everyone come together to share their knowledge and experiences was refreshing. I also presented my paper, "Microparticle Zerumbone from Zingiber zerumbet rhizome in Chitosan Modified Oleic acid, " focusing on the delivery drug and nature chemistry. This was my first international conference, and I presented research to professors and students. In addition, this conference was quite challenging for me because I was one of the undergraduate students who had yet to graduate among researchers and practitioners. Attending this conference has re-energized me and I can't wait to implement all I've learned into my work. This experience made colorful for me. Thank you to Ibu Prof. Irmanida Batubara and my friends Fardhan Roiza, Kirana, Gita, and Furqon for supporting my research. Without them, I wouldn't say I like this conference. Last year, I experienced failure when receiving rejection letters from graduate schools. Being hard of hearing does not allow me to give up. Instead, I have become more involved in spiritual faith to be closer to Allah SWT. As Professor Stephen Hawking stated, 'My advice to other disabled people would be to concentrate on things your disability doesn't prevent you from doing well, and don't regret the things it interferes with. Don't be disabled in spirit as well as physically. This experience unveiled my strong commitment to pursue higher education. Knowing ourselves is a must, as having a real purpose in life is essential. Recognizing the gap in the contribution of renewable energy in Indonesia has been very challenging for me. This led me to establish my firm, called Atomalyst. Prior to that, I graduated at Chemistry of ITS and I have been working in different fields across the health, energy, and materials science from various institutions for 3 years. Throughout my experience at Atomalyst, it has greatly reinforced both my personal and professional values as I delve into the realms of science and technology. Starting to acquire our first client for Atomalyst was challenging, especially for product development in nanotechnology, materials science, and biotechnology, I never imagined it would be easy for us. There are numerous applications we've explored, including sensors, coatings, renewable plastics, and more. I consistently leverage my expertise in science, engineering, and business alongside my colleagues to convince our clients. I've taken courses through edX, Coursera, and LinkedIn Learning, as well as advanced courses from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). Thankfully, our largest client believes in our diverse potential, and we are now undertaking our biggest project. Envisioning the future of technology in Indonesia is my paramount endeavor, prompting me to pursue a specialized course abroad. Reflecting on my experience of applying for graduate programs, I never expected to be admitted to Imperial College London, majoring in Advanced Materials Science and Engineering. It is ranked 6th and 8th in the world according to QS WUR and THE Times. The University of Vaasa, University of Oulu, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, and Wärtsilä Finland Oy have agreed to collaborate on the establishment of a joint energy laboratory for industry and research institutions. 👏 The laboratory, located at the University of Vaasa, promotes the energy transition by developing future low-emission engines.   💬 – The new energy laboratory not only promotes technological development but also strengthens our commitment to sustainable energy and the future. Together with our partners, we can create innovative solutions that benefit both industry and society at large.
