Director, Project Management at Two Worlds Consulting

As our final day at PDAC draws to a close, we attended an interesting panel discussion on Indigenous-led impact assessments: Moving from consultation to collaboration. The insights shared by the panelists, drawn from case studies in the Northwest Territories, Quebec, and British Columbia, underscored the importance of both collaborative and context-aware approaches.   Three key takeaways on Indigenous-led impact assessments: - Fosters stronger bonds between project proponents and First Nations, Inuit and Metis resulting in more equitable and mutually beneficial IBA's - Empowers Indigenous communities to gather richer, more comprehensive data enabling better-informed decisions and targeted mitigations - Allows for a more holistic approach to Indigenous Knowledge inclusion and application #pdac2024 #criticalminerals #mining #economicreconciliation
