Adding a new word from Kelp's Dictionary - "Inclusi-lence" In a company that celebrated its diverse workforce, Ravi observed that in meetings, only senior male executives spoke while newer team members like Nisha and Ahmed remained silent. Concerned about this pattern, Ravi approached his manager, Priya, and raised the issue. He explained that this silence might reflect “inclusi-lence”—where underrepresented voices feel excluded despite the team's inclusive values. Priya took Ravi’s concerns to heart. In their next meeting, she introduced a new approach, encouraging everyone to share their thoughts. As a result, Nisha and Ahmed contributed valuable ideas that significantly improved their campaign strategy. Ravi was glad to see that by addressing inclusi-lence, the team became more engaged and innovative. Gandhi Jayanti: Reflecting on Inclusivity and Equality in the Workplace On Gandhi Jayanti, we reflect on Mahatma Gandhi's powerful legacy of truth, non-violence, and equality. His unwavering belief in fairness and inclusivity serves as a lasting reminder that societal progress is achieved when every individual, regardless of their background, is treated with dignity and given equal opportunities. In the modern workplace, these values are more relevant than ever. When businesses foster fairness and create diverse teams, they unlock the potential for greater innovation, stronger collaboration, and higher employee engagement. By embedding inclusivity into their culture, organizations can drive better decision-making and long-term success. At Saira, we proudly partner with businesses committed to these principles—helping create environments where diverse perspectives are valued, and everyone has the opportunity to thrive. #GandhiJayanti #MahatmaGandhi #Peace #Unity #Equality #DiversityAndInclusion #InclusiveWorkplace #Saira

At #schülke, we walk the talk on all our goals, like diversity and equality in the workplace. We have established a culture of equality and inclusion across all our global locations and strive to maintain it by making sure that we listen to what our teams have to say. This International Women’s Day, we are celebrating the women at #schülke by asking them to tell us, in their own words, about #schülke and their time and work at #schülke. Here’s what Gauri Desai, Executive- HR & Admin,(working with schülke >7 Years) said in response to our questions, about her work at #schülke: This is what Gauri particularly appreciates about her job. I like the versatility of my job. Not a single day is boring or monotonous. I have the freedom to take decisions as long as they are compliant with our goals and beneficial to our organization. We always look for betterment and change ourselves with time and technology. What makes schülke special for Gauri? Openness and oneness in the workplace are the two great characteristics of schülke for me. We have clarity on our objectives and strive hard unitedly to achieve them. We always have guidance and support from seniors, they stand rock solid behind us. Is there any situation in your professional career which you remember particularly? I received extraordinary support from all my team members (peers and seniors) when I was going through the toughest phase of my life. The courage and strength given by each and every one helped me to regain my confidence and get back to my duties at the earliest. What advice would you give to younger female colleagues to help them on their career path? You must love and respect the work you do. Dedication and Resilience are the keywords to success. #womensday #womensday2024 #schulkeindia #weprotectlives

🙏🇮🇳 Honoring Mahatma Gandhi’s Vision on Gandhi Jayanti 🌱 As we celebrate Gandhi Jayanti today, let’s reflect on the principles of self-reliance and dignity of labor that Gandhiji championed. His belief that employment is the backbone of self-sufficiency remains relevant today. Gandhiji once said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” 🕊️ In today’s world, creating meaningful employment opportunities is one of the greatest services we can offer. It not only empowers individuals but also uplifts entire communities. As employers, leaders, and professionals, let’s commit ourselves to building workplaces that inspire growth, encourage innovation, and support the well-being of every worker. Let’s work toward a future where everyone has the chance to contribute, grow, and thrive. Together, we can embody Gandhiji’s ideals of non-violence, equality, and empowerment through meaningful employment and inclusive workplaces. My team and I celebrated International Women’s Day and Mahashivratri at the office. Everyone, including myself, wore traditional attire and was filled with joy while working. That day, I called up my team member Jyoti and offered her a chocolate to celebrate Women’s Day, hoping to see her smile. However, her selfless response touched my heart deeply. She insisted that I give the chocolate to Yug instead, as he had just bought a new bike and would be happier receiving it. This gesture made me feel fortunate to have Jyoti in my team, reflecting the caring culture I have experienced growing up in India. Jyoti's selfless gesture towards her teammate is incredibly heartwarming for me and speaks volumes about the supportive and caring culture within team. Her act of prioritizing Yug's happiness over her own reflects the essence of Women's Day and highlights the empathy and kindness that women often possess. It's moments like these that remind us of the importance of celebrating and recognizing the contributions of women not only in the workplace but also in society. Jyoti's gesture is a shining example of the impact that women can have when they prioritize the well-being and happiness of others. I chose to take a selfie of our festive expressions while we captured the smiling and vibrant faces of my team members. In that moment, I realized that my actual happiness as a leader stems from seeing the radiant smiles of my team. It's not about personal accomplishments, but about nurturing a culture of kindness and support that benefits us all. Catching a glimpse of my team's happiness is my ultimate reward, inspiring me to lead with compassion continuously. #advantmed #internationalwomensday #mahashivratri #teamwork #culture #leadership #empowerment #kindness #support #womeninbusiness #workplaceculture #selflessness #community #celebration #inspiration

𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧. This is a subject I feel very strongly about, so I would like to share a piece that was published earlier this year in the Hindustan Times on why we need an Anti-Patriarchy Day. 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐭𝐥𝐞 "𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐧" 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬—𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. This piece focuses on benign patriarchy - a less obvious and visible form of patriarchy. It is done under the guise of compassion or tradition, but is equally harmful. Examples include discouraging women from pursuing careers or prioritizing appearance over autonomy. To say that patriarchy is not a barrier to women would be a greatly unjust claim. It is present in all our lives, every day, all around us. But to see it, we need to look outside privileged bubbles and into the microagressions that women face everyday. We need to be aware of it to be able to recognise it, call it out, and do better. 🔗 Here is the link to read the full article: https://lnkd.in/dRNfbkXT #Patriarchy Megha Sekhsaria- Mawandia

A Special Union: International Women's Day & Maha Shivaratri Today is a truly unique day—Maha Shivaratri, a sacred day dedicated to Lord Shiva, and International Women's Day, a day to celebrate the strength and empowerment of women. While this last happened in 2005, back then, understanding the significance of such a union might have eluded many of us, myself included. Thankfully, the digital age empowers us to share our mindful thoughts and perspectives with a wider audience. Lord Shiva himself embodies the perfect balance of masculine and feminine energies. His Ardhanarishwara form, half male and half female, symbolizes the inseparable nature of Shiva and Shakti (divine feminine energy). This profound symbolism resonates deeply—within each of us lies a duality of masculine and feminine energies. Shiva and Shakti are inseparable and interdependent, recognizing and respecting this balance is key to personal growth and societal harmony. This resonates deeply with the spirit of International Women's Day, reminding us of the inherent duality within each of us. We all possess both masculine and feminine energies. Recognizing and respecting this balance is crucial. It's not about one being superior to the other, but about integrating both for a more fulfilling life. Let us celebrate this auspicious day by acknowledging the power of femininity not only in women but also in men. And let's do this not just today, but every day. May we strive for a world where both energies are valued and respected equally #MahaShivaratri #InternationalWomensDay #Balance #Duality #Empowerment #Harmony

"I thought you would support her since you are Igbo." These words were directed at me by an employee yesterday. It didn't come as a surprise, as many within our organization seem to have lost faith in the principles of equality and justice. It's imperative to treat all employees with fairness and impartiality. Personally, I vehemently oppose tribalism.I firmly believe in upholding principles of justice and equity, regardless of tribal affiliations. Such biases have no place in our workplace.Allow me to reiterate: I will never condone discrimination or favoritism. Our company's overarching objectives are far too significant to be jeopardized by such divisive practices.Consider the consequences if such behavior is allowed to persist:1. Employees become demotivated. 2. Valuable talents may depart from the company. 3. Strife and resentment can impede teamwork. 4. The company risks losing market share and cannot adapt to competition or change effectively. It's crucial to ensure equity and impartiality in all our actions and decisions. Let's work together to foster a workplace culture built on respect, fairness, and equal opportunity for all. #Management #HumanResources #Equity

Revelations of sexual harassment and abuse in the charity and NGO sectors have triggered deep questions about the nature of voluntary action today. What are the costs of increased size and bureaucracy and the distancing of not-for-profit agencies from grassroots constituencies and concerns? Are there constructive mechanisms that avoid these problems while achieving a different kind of impact on power relations, human relationships and values—the things that really underpin long-term moral and social transformation?
The Justice Hema Committee Report is a much needed culmination of the #Metoo movement in the Malayalam film industry! Kudos to all the artistes who supported the call for safe work environment! However there is a #Metoo, movement that is lurking around quietly in the Indian NGO sector that needs to voice itself! Women in the NGO sector travel alone to small towns, villages as part of project management, usually staying in hotels and lodges which are often unsafe. Sometimes they have to travel with male colleagues/bosses and one never knows how vulnerable women have been under these circumstances. Post 2013 the professional NGOs have ensured POSH compliance However the smaller ones working closer to the grassroots, continue to have unsafe work environments. Most of these founder driven organizations are located in small towns and often employ women from the communities they work work with - women who are most vulnerable not just to overtures from colleagues and bosses but also to men from the communities they work with. Bhawri Devi's case is a chilling example of what can happen! It is a sad paradox that women in organizations that are working towards ensuring social change might themselves be vulnerable to harassment and violence! Women in the social sector are professionals who as dependent on their jobs for income as those in other sectors. So few of them want to jeopardize their careers by speaking up! The social / NGO sector is a relatively small world where "everyone knows everyone". Women are worried about speaking up for fear that the narrative would go against them when they look for other jobs.NGOs strive to foster a liberal work environment with informal working relationships that predatory men use to their advantage with female colleagues, often confusing the woman into thinking they are being "conservative" and thereby preventing them from complaining. Simply ensuring POSH compliance is not the answer! As someone who has worked in both small and big organizations I fear there are not enough voices speaking up for ourselves. #Metoo #harassmentatworkplace #safeworkplace
