In every generation, they stand, serve, and sacrifice. For two and a half centuries, on land, sea, and in the air, they have fought and died for an idea bigger than themselves. Today, let us honor their sacrifice and commit to walking boldly in their footsteps. #HonoringOurHeroes #honoringwhoallserved #MemorialDay #VanguardBusinessSolutions

This image will always give me chills. What about you? It’s what we call an iconic image. An iconic image often has global or political implications. They affect our emotions because we immediately recognize something powerful or historic in the image. Think of pictures like those marking a day in history, worldwide events, or famous people. Iconic photos don’t have to be of recognizable subjects, though. There are iconic wedding photos, event shots, and even family portraits. What makes it iconic is that it evokes powerful feelings from its intended audience. Photographers are always hoping to capture something iconic. We keep our heads on a swivel so that we are constantly aware of our surroundings, the people and other subjects, the mood, the lighting, and all the other elements that contribute to our photos. We are constantly calculating and watching for everything to align perfectly in our lens. This is generally called “composition.” The way we compose a photo has to become instinctive for a photographer. We can only learn to do it through time and experience, and of course, a lot of trial and error. We notice where things will be in the frame. We can tell the difference between two nearly identical facial expressions. We see how a background will impact the foreground. And we have an eye on more details at once than anyone can imagine. When we nail it, it’s amazing. You can tell you’re looking at an iconic photo if you just can’t pull your eyes away from it, or if you feel an emotional reaction to it. Every once in a while, this type of photo happens spontaneously. But most of the time, it happens because a hard-working photographer applied their years of experience to make it work. What’s your most iconic photo?
Today, we remember the tragic events that happened on 9/11. We pause to honor all the victims, their families, and all those who serve and have sacrificed in the line of duty. ❤️ #NeverForget

In the midst of conflict, it's imperative to pause and reflect on the innocent lives caught in the crossfire. Children, the most vulnerable among us, bear the brunt of war's devastation. As bombs fall and bullets fly, they suffer unimaginable horrors, often without a safe haven to seek refuge. It's a stark reality that demands action and compassion from the global community. Think about the #Gaza #children, their laughter silenced by the deafening roar of artillery. They endure wounds both physical and emotional, with no relief in sight. Yet, amidst this chaos, where is the sanctuary they so desperately need? Where are the open doors of nations, welcoming them with open arms and offering solace from the storm? And what of the organizations professing to uphold the principles of humanity? Are they standing idly by, or are they taking meaningful steps to protect these innocent souls? It's time for action, not just words on banners. It's time to extend a lifeline to those who cannot fend for themselves. The #global #community must unite in solidarity to ensure that every child, regardless of circumstance, finds safety and shelter. Let us not turn a blind eye to their suffering, but rather, let us be the beacon of hope in their darkest hour. For in the end, our humanity is measured not by our words, but by our deeds. #humanity #freepalestine #peace #Rafah #terroristisrael #ICC #ICJ

On Friday, my best friend sent me a screenshot from Reddit, and it’s full of little wins I want to share with the world. 1. A #veteran was isolating themselves from their community. Their spouse identified it and encouraged them to visit their local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post. Families are often the first to know when their service member or veteran is struggling and I love that this spouse encouraged their loved one to visit a VFW. 2. Once there, they found exactly you would expect - cold beer, exceptional conversation, and much needed camaraderie, albethey in an old building. 3. The veteran thinks he’ll visit again, a testament to the kindness and warmth they found within the post. _____________________ Weekend Thoughts: I am reminded of a Patrol Base Abbate event, where Thomas Schueman was explaining the importance of service to PBA’s model. While the desire is that everyone Return to Base, to recharge and heal, the mission doesn’t end at the Patrol Base. Members are encouraged to return home and continue their service in their local communities. We know how important continued service, finding meaning, and pursuing purpose are to #veterans. More importantly, we know how important these factors are in ensuring a positive quality of life and reducing one’s risk of suicide. Knowing these - what if we applied PBA’s model to these old bars? Rather than discussing these old buildings as lost causes, what if the buildings themselves became the purpose? What if, after our rejuvenating trips to the woods (or river or mountains), we poured ourselves into these buildings, which are capable of sustaining the healing, the camaraderie, and the growth? We already know the ice cold beer and conversations are worth it. The sad truth is no one else is coming along to save these places of refuge for our generation of veterans. So why don’t we save them ourselves? _____________________ 📸: just the weirdest dog you’ll ever meet 🐾 #veteransaffairs #stillserving #veteransstrengtheningamerica #betheone #noonedoesmore #vfw #semperfi
