With the many challenges facing the UK international education sector recently, UH have embarked on a project aimed at 'adding value for postgraduate students'. This innovative and transformative opportunity put forward and developed by our Director of International Sayaz Miah who also led and secured the Universities prestigious King's Award for Enterprise puts the student experience and career development at the heart of the University of Hertfordshire's strategy. The Hertfordshire Internships Program is a unique initiative which as Sayaz notes "guarantees students the chance to undertake an internship alongside their postgraduate studies, blending academic excellence with real-world experience." This approach is significant and I am proud that UH is leading the sector with this initiative building it into the student experience as a guaranteed opportunity to produce quality graduates who go on to make a significant difference in their communities and future careers. Well done Sayaz Miah and University of Hertfordshire https://lnkd.in/ewqqri94

"Students must build on relevant skills beyond the confines of classrooms and curricula." - Corrine Ong, Singapore Management University. The latest Times Higher Education article focuses on how learning opportunities stemming from collaborations with stakeholders, such as internships, provide opportunities for students to build in-demand skills. Universities can harness collaborations with higher education stakeholders and alumni engagement to maximise graduate success. ⬇ 🔸 By partnering with universities and industry leaders, we create tailored internship experiences that allow students to learn experientially, in real-world settings. These experiences not only enhance students' practical skills but also cultivate essential skills like adaptability, cultural competence, and communication. 🔸 We foster alumni engagement by connecting former interns with current students, creating a supportive network for knowledge exchange, cultural advice and career guidance. This collaborative ecosystem benefits students and also strengthens ties between academia and industry, ensuring graduates are well-prepped for the challenges of the global workforce. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e37JSdn8

September 20th is #WhyApply Day in Tennessee! One of my top reasons for choosing APSU - community. Professors, mentors, and peers helped push me to excel in many ways. I had opportunities to showcase my work and knowledge in research competitions, and an on-campus internship. These connections have turned into life-long friends. Meredith students who are interested in a Foreign Services career should explore this program!
Earlier this year, virtual interns were recognized for outstanding achievements in the 2023-24 U.S. Department of State - Virtual Student Federal Service (VSFS). #VSFS is an interagency virtual internship program administered by the Bureau of Diplomatic Technology’s (DT) Office of eDiplomacy. The program connects college #students with the vital functions and responsibilities of the federal #government. The Virtual Intern Awards ceremony capped off a successful academic year for 1,700 interns, 800 mentors, 500 projects, and 47 participating agencies. Winning interns, selected by an interagency panel, were presented with small cash awards provided by the Robertson Foundation for Government. Since its launch in 2009, more than 15,000 students have completed internships through the program. That’s 15,000 people creating global impact and promoting DT’s goal of finding innovative technology solutions to the world’s most challenging problems.
