I was having a recent conversation with a new partnership leader at a SaaS Series A startup. His objective is to scale up their partnership strategy, from referral programs and a few existing tech integrations to partnering up with “giant” corporations. He believes the startup’s strong brand should be attractive to other larger players, though this would not be enough to get the partners’ attention. We discussed ways we could build a business case to demonstrate the value they can bring to the table. Some ideas: - Define what’s important to the partner: what’s the top metric their management is focused on? - Identify existing customers who are using the partner’s products and conduct surveys to gain intel on how our combined products can better serve them - Quantify the dollar impact of the partnership on a small sample of existing overlapping customers - Identify a champion within the organization who would benefit (compensation, evaluation, career progression) from the dollar impact - Find comparable case studies of partnerships in the industry to support how the market would react Anything else missing here?
