I want to take a moment to recognize the hardworking women in the tourism and hospitality industry. Having worked in this field myself, I understand the effort and dedication it takes to create memorable experiences for guests, especially in main roles like chefs 👩🍳, waitresses 🍽️, housekeepers 🧹, and front office agents 🛎️. According to WTTC data, women make up a significant portion of the tourism workforce, accounting for nearly 40% of total employment. From 2010 to 2019, there was a remarkable 24% rise in direct female employment, increasing from 38.6 million to 47.8 million. Hospitality leads the way, with over 52% of women in tourism employed in this segment, making it one of the top employers for women globally 🌍. Despite these impressive numbers, the journey isn’t without challenges. Women in these roles often face long hours ⏳, physical demands, and, unfortunately, difficult guests. These situations test their patience and professionalism every day. Yet most women continue to rise above these challenges with resilience, strength 💪, and unwavering dedication to their work. We truly appreciate the hard work and commitment shown by these women. They are a major strength for the industry, continuing to shape and elevate the guest experience through every obstacle. Thank you for all that you do! 🙏 (All images used in this post were created using AI) #Tourism #Hospitality #SriLankanHospitality #WomenInTourism #WomenInHospitality #Resilience #IndustryAppreciation

Is it time to market better to the Solo Female Traveler? I’m addicted to solo travel, having taken many trips over the last couple of years. It’s empowering, it’s liberating, but it’s also complicated, especially when safety is a constant concern. On my recent solo trip to Varkala, I had to change hostels midway because I just didn’t feel safe. And honestly, it made me wonder—why aren’t there more women-focused travel services out there? It’s not that I’m looking for anything super fancy. As a solo female traveler, sometimes I love staying in a budget hostel and meeting new people. But sometimes, I just want to indulge in unique experiences—like a serene backwaters tour in Kerala, snorkeling in the Andamans or Maldives, or even a guided palace tour in Jaipur. And if it’s a small group or a private tour, I’d feel much more comfortable if it was led by a female guide. This isn’t about bias; it’s about trust and feeling at ease. I was researching about Thailand recently and stumbled upon a women-led company in Krabi offering island tours. Naturally, they will become my top pick, not just for safety, but because it felt like a brand I could really relate to. This got me thinking—are we missing out on a huge business opportunity by not creating more women-led services? What if, in touristy places, we had women-only Rapido or Grab bikes specifically for women travelers? How many of us would feel more confident hopping on a bike to explore a new city? Or what if we had a dedicated platform for women-led tours and experiences? It’s not about excluding men, but about providing an option that solo female travelers would trust and gravitate towards. Incase you know any women-led businesses in India that stand out and have filled this gap—whether it’s through female drivers, local guides, or women-only adventure tours- Comment below! Of course, in an ideal world, both men and women would feel equally safe, and we’d have businesses run by both genders that travelers could choose without second thoughts :) #SoloTravel #India

During a recent trip to Hyderabad, India, I had the pleasure of staying at Lemon Tree Hotels. While this isn't a traditional hotel review, I was so impressed by their commitment to #Diversity, #Inclusion, and #Equality (DI&E) that I felt compelled to share. Lemon Tree Premier, founded in 2002 with a single property with 49 rooms, has blossomed into a leading hotel chain with over 130 locations across India, Dubai, and Nepal, boasting over 10,000 rooms. The visionary owner, Patanjali Keswani, is the MD & Chairman of Lemon Tree Hotels, has instilled a unique philosophy into the company's core principles: environmental sustainability and offering employment opportunities to individuals from all backgrounds, without bias. This commitment is evident in their drive to employ at least 30% of its staff to be persons with disabilities, including those who are hearing and speech impaired. This isn't just about filling quotas; the policy ensures people with disabilities are equally represented across all departments, with roles, designations, and compensation on par with their peers based on competency. Anti-discrimination measures further solidify equal opportunity. Perhaps the most inspiring aspect of their DI&E initiative is the mandatory sign language training for all staff members. This creates a common ground for communication, fostering a truly inclusive environment. My experience at Lemon Tree Premier was exceptional. The hospitality and service across all departments were seamless. There was no way to distinguish between staff members with or without disabilities. The level of service, staff interaction, and camaraderie were a testament to a well-integrated and motivated team. This experience got me thinking about the power of leadership in driving such impactful initiatives. Robust policies and a commitment to continuous improvement are undoubtedly key to achieving this level of success. Lemon Tree Hotels is a powerful example of diversity and inclusion in action. Feroz Mohammed, the Assistant Front Office Manager was the first to share these initiatives with me. I observed how policies around DI&E can be more than just aspirational and lip service. Witnessing DI&E in action further convinced me that we can 'do better' as individuals and organizations in genuinely practicing DI&E. Let's take a leaf out of their book and work towards a more inclusive future in all our endeavors! 🌍 #DiversityMatters #InclusionWorks #DiversityInAction Akriti Arora Bhandari Aradhana Lal

India's Hospitality Sector: A $93 Million Opportunity in H1 2024 The hospitality industry in India is witnessing a transformative moment. With $93 million in investments during the first half of 2024—marking a 22% increase over the previous year—the sector demonstrates resilience and adaptability in a dynamic economic landscape. But here’s what caught my attention: what’s driving this momentum? 1️⃣ Macro-Economic Strength: Investors are betting on India's growing middle class, increasing air connectivity, and robust commercial markets. 2️⃣ Changing Traveler Preferences: Today’s guests prioritize personalized, tech-enabled, and sustainable stays—a shift that’s shaping how properties are marketed and managed. 3️⃣ Post-Pandemic Adaptations: Hotels and vacation rentals have embraced flexibility, health-conscious designs, and digital-first strategies to stay competitive. As someone building in the hospitality space, these numbers are more than just data points—they're a call to action. The $93 million isn’t just an investment in properties; it’s an investment in new experiences, innovative tech solutions, and a vision of modern hospitality. At Wire Stay, we’re asking ourselves critical questions: Are traditional property listings enough, or do we need to reimagine how hosts connect with guests? How do we design solutions that leverage this investor confidence to create value for every stakeholder? The forecast of $413 million for the entire year tells us that this is just the beginning. As we prepare for a dynamic future, it’s clear that adaptability, data-driven insights, and guest-first innovation will define the industry’s next chapter. What do you think will shape hospitality in the next 5 years? I’d love to hear your thoughts. #HospitalityIndustry #InvestmentTrends #IndiaGrowth #TechInHospitality #SustainableTourism #WireStay

From Mandaps to Markets: The Business of Indian Extravaganza ✨ Anant Ambani's wedding was more than just a lavish spectacle; it was a masterclass in soft power. Now, you might wonder, what is soft power? To put it simply, it is a persuasive approach to international relations, typically involving the use of economic or cultural influence. The event captured global attention, transforming into a powerful platform to showcase India's opulence and cultural richness. From Hollywood A-listers to Bollywood divas, the star-studded affair resonated worldwide, much like the British Royal Wedding or the K-pop sensation. South Korea's tourism surge from 8.8 million in 2010 to 17.5 million in 2019 stands as a testament to the economic potential of soft power. India's billionaires can replicate this success by hosting grand events across the country. Not only will this boost tourism but also elevate India's global image. For instance, a hospitality tycoon could transform their wedding into a showcase of regional crafts and cuisines, attracting international visitors. While critics may raise concerns about wealth disparity, the economic multiplier effect of such events is undeniable. Increased tourism translates to job creation, revenue generation for local businesses, and a broader positive impact on the economy. India's tourism and hospitality industry is a significant contributor to the GDP, generating over $231 billion in 2023 alone. With projections of reaching $523 billion by 2034, the potential for growth is immense. Lavish weddings and events can serve as powerful catalysts for this expansion. By investing in experiences that showcase India's diversity and luxury, billionaires can not only enhance their personal brand but also contribute to the nation's economic prosperity. It's about creating a win-win situation where opulence meets opportunity, and glamour translates into growth. Know More About It: https://lnkd.in/gUBkR7Wg
