Responses to the Government’s budget and its impact on the charity sector are filtering through, as charities get to grips with the full implications for them and their communities. Below is one example of how hospices and care homes run by charities will now pay higher employer National Insurance on their greatest asset - their staff. Another estimate from NCVO - the National Council for Voluntary Organisations calculates this tax rise will cost charities an extra £1.4bn per year. The implications for service delivery is far from good and the pressure of fundraisers mounts.
