The Gift That Lives On "WHAT IN THE WORLD can I give to ______ this Christmas?" Sound familiar? Sure, it's probably the most frequently asked question every Yuletide season. In our pocket of society where pampered affluence is rampant, we are often at a loss to know which gift to buy. For some people (especially those who "have everything") the standard type of gift won't cut it. Nothing in the shopping mall catches our fancy. I have a suggestion. It may not seem that expensive or sound very novel, but believe me, it works every time. It's one of those gifts that has great value but no price tag. It can't be lost, nor will it ever be forgotten. No problem with size either. It fits all shapes, any age, and every personality. This ideal gift I suggest you give during the season is yourself. That's right, give some of yourself away. Give an hour of your time to someone who needs you. Give a note of encouragement to someone who is really down. Give a hug of affirmation to someone in your family. Give a visit of mercy to someone who is laid aside. Give a meal you prepared to someone who is sick. Give a word of compassion to someone who is going through a difficult season. Give a deed of kindness to someone who is easily overlooked. Jesus taught: The King will say, "I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!" MATTHEW 25:40 The most meaningful gifts we give this Christmas won't be wrapped in shiny paper with a perfectly tied bow—they'll be wrapped in tender expressions of Christ's mercy and love. Here at Houses for Healing, we are a non profit organization, which builds tiny, yet fully functional, houses for people to stay in where a necessity for short-term medical housing exists. Patients and family members can stay without charge in a place near the hospital where they will be assisted with food and transportation. Consider helping us today https://lnkd.in/eZNHuX8n

This Thanksgiving, we’re not just grateful—we’re inspired. At BeBold Recovery, every day we witness courage in its purest form. Our patients, each on their own journey, remind us what true resilience looks like. This holiday, while many of us are gathering with family and friends, we also pause to honor those who are rebuilding their lives—brick by brick, moment by moment. Thanksgiving isn't just about turkey and tradition. It's about finding gratitude in the small victories: the first step toward recovery, the call for help, the decision to keep going when it’s tough. These are the moments we celebrate. To our patients: You are the reason we do what we do. Your stories of strength fuel us. This Thanksgiving, know that we’re not just your treatment center—we’re your unwavering support system, your cheerleaders, and your extended family. To our community: Thank you for believing in our mission and standing with us as we help people rewrite their stories. Together, we’re building something greater than recovery; we’re building hope. Here’s the greatest gift you can ever give to your grandparents: A book about them! Imagine capturing the story of how they met, their early years together, and all the timeless memories that have shaped your family. A true celebration of their lives. Let’s break it down: They raised four amazing children, who went on to bless them with ten grandchildren. Now imagine each child and grandchild writing about their favorite memory—no more than 1,000 words each—of a moment they shared with them. That's 14 chapters filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. Plus, two more chapters dedicated just to their remarkable journey together. This is more than a framed picture from a family picnic or a family tree with just dates and dashes. This is an emotional tribute, a heartfelt message from each child and grandchild telling them exactly how much they've meant over the years. It’s the story of their legacy, in their family’s own words. This is a gift they will hold close to their hearts for years to come. At Our Legacy Book Series, we specialize in capturing these memories and creating a stunning, personalized keepsake book—a treasure that will live on through generations. When’s your grandparents' next anniversary? Or maybe a family reunion? There’s no better time to start creating this unforgettable gift. Let’s make sure your grandparents receive something truly meaningful. Reach out today and let’s get your book started! Their legacy deserves to be remembered, and you have the power to make it happen.

Ending the year on a positive note as a Christian, family person, and working-class individual can be meaningful and fulfilling. Here are some ideas: 1. Reflect and Pray: Spend time in prayer and reflection, considering the year’s blessings, challenges, and personal growth. Journaling can help capture your thoughts. 2. Family Traditions: Create or continue family traditions that celebrate the season, such as decorating, baking, or sharing stories. These moments strengthen family bonds. 3. Volunteer Together: Find a local charity or community service project where your family can volunteer. Giving back can instill gratitude and compassion in everyone. 4. Plan a Family Gathering: Organize a special meal or gathering with extended family or friends. Sharing food and fellowship can reinforce connections. 5. Devotional Time: Set aside time for family devotionals or Bible study to focus on the spiritual aspect of the season. This can foster deeper discussions and insights. 6. Goal Setting: Discuss and set goals as a family for the upcoming year, aligning them with your values and faith. This can provide a sense of direction and purpose. 7. Celebrate the New Year: Host a small celebration to welcome the New Year, incorporating prayers or blessings for the year ahead. 8. Personal Renewal: Take some time for self-care—this could be a day off for relaxation, a short retreat, or even a quiet evening with a good book or movie. By blending reflection, family togetherness, and service, you can create a fulfilling end to the year that honors your values and relationships.

One of the toughest lessons I’ve learned is that true care doesn’t always result in equal treatment. You can give the whole of your heart, and sometimes, it won’t be returned the way you’d hoped. For anyone who gives deeply, this can feel discouraged. But here’s what I’ve come to understand: don’t let this change who you are. Don’t let it hold you back from being the person who cares, who shows up, who gives freely. Because even if it feels unreciprocated in the moment, the impact of your care can leave a lasting impression. People may not always realize what you’ve given right away. They may need time, space, or life’s own reminders to recognize the value of your presence. Sometimes, the best parts of what we give are seen long after we’re gone. And that’s okay. Hold onto the truth that the world needs people who give deeply, who care without condition, and who believe in the value of lifting others up. You never know who will look back and feel grateful for your kindness down the road. Stay true to who you are. Keep your heart open. 💙

One of the most meaningful ways to honor our grandparents on #GrandparentsDay is to help them plan for the future. Ensure we respect their desires and maintain their legacy. Here are a few thoughtful ways we can show support to our grandparents: 𝟭. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Ask about their wishes for the future. How would they like to be remembered? What family traditions or stories do they want to share? Open and honest conversations are a great way to ensure their values and memories live on. 𝟮. 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀: Discuss their medical care preferences and help them establish healthcare directives. This can alleviate stress during difficult times and ensure their decisions are honored. 𝟯. 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Assist them in updating their will or creating a trust to protect their assets and provide for loved ones. Ensuring these documents are current and reflective of their wishes brings peace of mind. 𝟰. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆: Encourage them to share how they want heirlooms, gifts, and personal possessions distributed. This helps avoid future uncertainty and ensures their cherished items are passed down as intended. 𝟱. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁: Be there to listen, support, and help them navigate these important decisions. Show them that their wishes matter and that you’re there to help them every step of the way.
