https://lnkd.in/gEReFNap Tampa Bay has professional hockey, football, and baseball teams..The Tampa Bay Rays came into MLB in 1998 and was in similar situation as the Colts football team..A venue was built before a team got there..The Tropicana Dome in Tampa Bay was built in 1992 and was in hopes to get a MLB team..The Hoosier/RCA Dome in Indianapolis, IN was built in 1983, and the Colts moved from Baltimore to Indianapolis in 1984..Anyway, the Rays played in 2008 and 2020 World Series but have always struggled with fan attendance numbers since they began in 1998..Would a venue that is built like a baseball ballpark change that..The Tropicana Dome is built more like a multi-purpose stadium..Tampa Bay is near to a lot of beaches like Siesta Key or Clearwater Beaches and is marketable area to tourists..Tampa Bay has hosted multiple Super Bowls, WrestleMania, and NCAA Men's and Women's Basketball Final Fours the last 35 years..However, Tampa Bay has never marketed or publicized the Tampa Bay Rays well.. 🧢 ⚾ 📉 💺 🏖 🏢 🏟 🏙 📰 #marketing #publicrelations #eventmanagement #facilitymanagement #hospitality #sportbusiness

As the NHL playoff season heats up, let’s take a moment to appreciate the unsung hero of the ice: the Zamboni! The current Zamboni electric technology is mature and in most cases, it's financially beneficial to make the switch to EV. A Brief History: 🧊 1949: Frank Zamboni invents the first ice resurfacing machine in California. 🧊 1954: The machine gains popularity in the NHL, starting with the Boston Bruins. 🧊 Today: Zamboni's are used in arenas around the world, symbolizing innovation and reliability. Maintaining a fleet of Zamboni's provides valuable insights for any fleet manager: 🏒 Regular Maintenance: Just as Zamboni's require consistent upkeep to perform optimally, regular maintenance of any fleet ensures longevity and efficiency. 🏒 Training: Skilled operators are crucial. Proper training ensures that the equipment is used correctly and safely, reducing wear and tear. 🏒 Upgrading Infrastructure: Staying updated with the latest technology and infrastructure improvements can significantly enhance performance and sustainability. The Oakland Athletics will share a stadium with the Sacramento River Cats for three seasons prior to moving to #LasVegas, the team said Thursday. The Cats are the Triple A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. This kinda makes sense but dunno how the Sacramento team will feel having to play with a Double A [quality] #MLB team. It's a long time since Moneyball and all Billy Beane's awesomeness was ripped off by teams with scads more $$. Still, the A's, while enduring a recent three-game sweep by the Boston Red Sox [Go Sox!], drew about 4,000 fans per game, easily half being Sox fans. Sacto's stadium capacity is 10,000. The A's did average 10K last year, but either way it's #NoProblem In true Major League Baseball (MLB) fashion there's a club option for a fourth year. The A's will be called the Athletics or the A's for their time in Sacramento, dropping the word 'Oakland' — which can also only be good from a #branding perspective. Not just dropping the #Oakland part, but having no city at all on their name for four years. Then, what happens in #Vegas ... well, you know. Vegas a'course is already well into becoming a sports mecca — the now Las Vegas Raiders, the Las Vegas Aces, the Vegas Golden Knights — a boon for #convention-goers staying an extra day or entertaining #clients, sunburn-easily #tourists, and local residents. There are two Vegases after all: that 'what happens in' one, and the family-friendly one. Both can be pleased with the arrival of the A's, who perhaps will then have the dosh to keep players after working so hard to develop them ... only to see them currently and after several seasons decamp for hefty salary cities. They're building a $1.1B stadium in the #Nevada desert. Benjamin Siegel wd be proud. #baseball #sportsbusiness #sports #betting

The 2024 Major League Baseball season is now underway. Baseball has been my fave sport to watch as a fan for many years now. If you appreciate athleticism, strategic thinking on the fly and statistical analysis, baseball gives you plenty of all three. Speaking of baseball - have you ever seen the movie Moneyball? There's a scene fairly early in the movie when Billy Beane (played by Brad Pitt) is in a parking garage speaking to Peter Brand (played by Jonah Hill). This scene covers how baseball leaders and executives are making decisions not only concerning which players to acquire, but also how much to pay them - based on faulty analysis of the value they can provide. PB: "There is an epidemic failure within the game to understand what is really happening. And this leads people who run Major League Baseball teams to misjudge their players and mismanage their teams. I apologize" BB: "Go on." PB: "Okay. People who run ball clubs, they think in terms of buying players. Your goal shouldn't be to buy players, your goal should be to buy wins. And in order to buy wins, you need to buy runs..." This impact of this scene should not be reserved for the world of sports - but also the world of business. Instead of "player analysis", think "candidate analysis". I see too many job descriptions that are filled with expectations of what an ideal candidate will either already know, or know how to do - instead of statements along the lines of "...an ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate how they will help our organization achieve these specific, job related outcomes". If you are a hiring manager, have you ever hired someone who you verified, prior to hiring them, that: 1. They had the role experience you stated was needed, AND 2. They had the industry experience you stated was needed, AND 3. They had the education/training you stated was needed... But... In spite of these things, said hire of yours failed to help your business unit achieve any of the desired outcomes your business unit was expected to deliver on? Maybe you should have been looking at other things to determine candidate suitability - things that are more predictive of success than the criteria you used. Reach out to me and ask me for resources I can share with you on what predicts performance at work BETTER than: 1. Where someone went to college or university (or if they went at all), or 2. Whether they have worked in your industry before, or 3. Whether they have performed a role in a different organization before. https://lnkd.in/dDK5VPEb

The spin seal is one of the most interesting actions in lacrosse 🌪️ I first learned this from watching Randy Staats, who averaged over five points a game. But he was just as good at getting people open, often doing this for Lyle Thompson at Georgia. First, let's understand seals. A seal is a pick action where you pick your own man, sealing off a switch or a sagging defender to give a teammate space for an outside shot. While commonly used in man-up situations, seals are also incredibly effective in two-man games during even situations. By sealing your own man and then jumping off the seal, you create separation and allow Dodgers to come over the top. Sealing at the goal line is particularly effective. Defenders try to avoid being sealed, but the spin seal takes advantage of this by allowing you to spin around them, pinning them in a difficult defensive position and creating space for a cutter or dodger. Spin seals are a rare but sick action. They're not hard to do, but you'll see them used infrequently. But if you add this to your game, you'll get some people wide open!

Does your brand hit Grand Slams? Freddie Freeman didn’t just get up to the plate in Game 1 of the World Series and hit a first pitch Grand Slam to set the Dodgers up for an incredible Fall Classic. He’s been in the major leagues for 14 years and has been preparing for that moment since he was six years old. That hit took years of training, focus, and repeat practice. What training, focus, and repetitive practice are you dedicating to your brand? When the game is on the line for your company or for your professional relationships, is your brand capable of performing the way we witnessed Freddie Freeman perform last week? What would your revenue potential be at the end of 2025 if you dedicated 12 hours to evolving your brand this month? (comment below) Branding anchors your value proposition in the minds of your audience so you are a top choice. Branding determines keywords used in online searches. Branding contributes to retention and willingness to pay price premiums And so much more.
