Are you looking after your hands? Here, I'm talking more of function than form. Yes, we will use hand cream, we'll do our nails, but do we need to care for our hands a bit more - the function? - I was out walking this morning in the park and there were my hands, by my side not doing very much, a bit of swinging. - It made me think I’m exercising a lot of my body; my arms are working but not my hands, so here's some ideas for the next time you go out walking. Exercising your hands while walking - Open your hand, wide, then give it a stretch ensuring you separate your fingers wide stretching them, close to a light grasp, open them again - stretching them - watch the natural spread of your fingers (mine are a bit uneven like my ring finger is out of sorts with its neighbours). - Closing, opening with a lovely stretch - feel a good stretch. Stretch enough so you can actually feel your palm and your fingers stretching. - Straight fingers - stretch them out, then move in and out as if playing the piano, one finger at a time - this is a great mindfulness idea it you need a break - finger watching! Do a run with your straight fingers. - Of course, you can have a silent piano session running up and down the keyword with softly flexed fingers. Play your favourite tune! (or sing along with Max Bygraves below) - Of course, we can do a bit of shaking, really good after we've done a stretch. Shake out your hands. - Add a few wrist circles, clockwise and anti-clockwise. And this is all while I'm walking in the park. We’re not making any special routine we are not taking time. Because we are just walking! · What about when you’re stood having a chat? · or waiting for the kettle to boil? · or the website to load? Rings and Bracelets Here is another self-care for looking after your hands. It's called rings and bracelets. - Just imagine you're trying to push a ring onto your finger. One hand is turning the ring so it will slide onto the finger of your opposite hand. - Do this with each finger, nothing too hard you're just waking up the nerve ending and giving the muscles a gentle massage. - Then swap to your other hand. As you're walking along - intermit this with that hand stretch above. Time to put on your bracelets! - Now imagine you have a bracelet, it's a little bit tight and you want to push it over your hand, as your finger and thumbs get together, and gently up over your wrist and up your forearm. - Then swap to the other hand. Any time you are sitting, and your hands are not working, you can do some of these exercises. Hands - we need to take care of them. #naturalhealth #exerciseismedicine #naturalpainsolutions #handtherapy https://lnkd.in/dKU4HPf8
