Chinese EV Makers Go Global ⚡🌍   The Chinese EV industry is on fire! 🔥 They're not just dominating at home anymore — they're expanding globally and racing towards chip independence.   I had a conversation featured in a China Daily Hong Kong below.   Key takeaways: - Overseas expansion is a major focus for Chinese EV players. - Competition in the domestic market is fierce, driving innovation and pushing companies to look for growth opportunities abroad. - Achieving self-sufficiency in auto chips is a top priority amidst geopolitical tensions.   This is a fascinating time for the automotive industry. We're witnessing a major shift in the global landscape, with Chinese EV makers playing an increasingly prominent role.   Want more insights on the future of the automotive industry? Unstoppable. It seems. Does it also mean that how we view automotive bands will change? In the past: Something you longed and worked hard for, the more expensive and never-mind-how special, the better, it was well taken care of and displayed with all its emblems - again the more, the better - outside the garage on Saturdays? Now and onwards: Commodity, like a a (Chinese) dishwasher or anything, with or without AI 😉

Hello Howard, thanks for sharing. Do you think their business model would be sustainable, without government subsidies?

I agree with your point that "we're witnessing a major shift in the global landscape" as developed countries are going to have to make a difficult choice between (a) allowing their consumers to access high quality Chinese made EVs at a low price and reducing carbon emissions and (b) supporting their own car industries by introducing tariffs against Chinese made EVs and driving up local prices. Not to mention national security concerns. These are difficult choices and will be fascinating to watch. At the moment, European countries appear to be leaning towards (b) which is likely to end badly. Do you agree? Sophie Krantz

USA and Canada 100% duty on Chines EV. The EU is working out its policies. BYD is setting up a billion dollar facility in Turkey. But the Far East may be a big market.
