As an aspiring screenwriter/filmmaker I'm always impressed by scripts/movies that have solid themes/messages but deliver them like Trojan horses, delivering a profound message while seemingly only being escapist entertainment. FREE GUY is one of the best films of the last 10 years. I've also recently discovered this strange phenomenon of YouTube "first-time reaction" videos. This one is excellent as you see how the film plays out, delivering its profound message. Yes, "What a movie and what a message." I've trumpeted this movie to so many people who dismissed it, even after watching it. I guess sometimes Trojan horse are just too convincing... When I first saw this, I was blown away that it does what THE MATRIX did in 2 hours in its first 15 minutes. It has one of the most profound life-fulfillment messages in all films. Count how many other films advocate "a world where you can just be happy and do whatever you want, where jobs and money are not necessary?" Seriously... How many of us suspect that we're just NPCs in our real lives...? SPOILER—: Guy's decision to use "empowerment" rather than violence to "neutralize" Dude blew my mind. Instead of continuing to fight back, he opted to SHARE the enlightenment and experience of wearing Sunglasses and all that means. —END OF SPOILER Yes, it's a love story and an underdog story, but it's also a call for a better world for EVERYONE not just the "main character(s)" at a time when we need way more of that. They say a script is written twice—once during shooting and again on the editing table. This video is a perfect example of how things can transform during post-production. Initially, we thought this would be the weakest of the videos we shot over two consecutive days. But once I got to the editing stage, it turned into something much stronger. I was able to shape it in a way that exceeded my expectations, and I genuinely believe it's some of the best content I’ve produced in a while. #videoeditor #director #youtuber https://lnkd.in/gWHPkgyp

If you just want the TL;DR instead of watching the recording (though I think you should!), we talk about how we learned the following through implementing Mermaid.js at Kong: 💡Sometimes, the first time you come up with an idea isn’t the right time. 💡Don’t wait for someone else to fix your problems. Sometimes problems can persist, especially on docs teams, for a long time because we’re used to seeing ourselves as individual contributors instead of leaders. Making a problem a docs problem leads to it being solved much faster than having someone else prioritize it. 💡To influence, you must first have trust. Build trust with a team before trying to suggest changes to how they work. 💡Take action, do the right thing, and others will follow. Bias for action. On our Distance Cert IBET course, one of the units you will study examines grammar teaching in Business English - this includes the passive voice which is used to talk about, amongst other things, industrial processes. One the best videos we have seen that can be used as a carrier for teaching the passive voice is the below video from British-based multinational packaging company Rexam PLC (now part of Ball Corporation). How many instances of the passive voice can you find? How could you use such a video in your Business English training?
