AI video interviews enable companies to shift toward skills-based hiring, where the focus is on a candidate’s actual abilities rather than their educational background or job history. By analyzing the specific skills needed for the role and matching them with the candidate’s responses, companies can make more informed hiring decisions. This is particularly valuable when hiring across regions, as skills may differ slightly depending on the local market. https://lnkd.in/dHT8gn-v #skills #hiring #AI #video #interviews #interviewing

"What's a good way to ask about remote work structure in an interview? I don't want to come across as wanting to do the bare minimum but I also don't want to join a company that tracks mouse movements, monitors logged in time, etc." Mentee Question ⬆ Here are some questions I'd ask during the interview process: - Describe your typical work day. - How does your team track projects? - What would you say are your team's most important remote culture expectations? - How much flexibility does your team have in building their own schedule? - What are some things you do in your free time? - In what ways do you build your team camaraderie online? Remember an interview is just as much about you interviewing them as it is about them interviewing you. Ask different people (managers, team members, etc.) to get a full sense of the remote work culture, and especially, take note if the manager's answers and the team's answers don't match. Any other questions that you'd add to this list? #remoteWorkCulture #healthyWorkCulture #Interviewing

If you cant offer flexibility you will be left behind. This is a management problem not an employee one. Managers need to adapt to a changing work environment and make time spent in offices valuable to all. This is when you get the absolute best from hybrid working.

Last week, I contacted 8 candidates for their 1st round interviews. Surprisingly, 4 declined. Half of them said they were only interested in remote jobs. I explained that while the position isn’t fully remote, it does offer a hybrid model (3 days in the office and 2 days WFH). They thought again but ultimately decided to withdraw the application and cancel the interview. When I informed the hiring leader, he was surprised and asked: Why would someone decline the interviews? I explained that people now value flexibility. They want the option to work from home. The hiring leader said: I understand and it’s their choice but we need people to come to the office. It is more efficient to have face to face meetings, etc… I replied: Of course, understand that. So that’s why we confirm with everyone before setting up the interview. Moral of the story: Today people have the freedom to choose whether they want to work from an office or find an employer who offers remote options so we can’t force anyone. Some people enjoy going to the office… but, sorry, we need to understand that everyone has different needs 😇 The pandemic has shown that it’s not just about the job anymore, it’s about how the job fits into their lives (and perhaps values). We are living in an era where employers offering remote or hybrid options are not just providing jobs, they are offering a lifestyle choice. We need more flexibility… do you agree?
