The Tanbreez deposit in Greenland is considered a promising candidate for reducing global dependence on China for rare earth supplies. Its potential has now grown even further: according to Critical Metals Corp, the majority owner of the deposit, drilling has uncovered one of the world's highest concentrations of gallium. This critical resource is essential for manufacturing computer chips, solar panels, and LEDs. While I am cheering for continued success for a strong critical metals project in Brazil, this is a perfect example of why South Star's approach of phased, modular production that is financeable in today’s markets & at competitive global costs is a strong differentiator. We are focused on bringing high quality production to the marketplace at a critical time when markets are being strongly influenced by certain players and jurisdictions, which inhibits investment and maintains the same old dominant players. We will scale when our the markets and our clients ask for additional material. At a time when supply chains, companies and countries are looking to diversify suppliers, South Star is one of the first to bring new production to the global markets. Santa Cruz starts production in Q3 2024 and is the first new graphite production in the Americas this century. In an update on the disruptive industry news that broke this morning, Jack Lifton, Co-chair of the Critical Minerals Institute (CMI), offered a detailed analysis of Aclara Resources Inc.‘s (TSX: ARA) strategic move into the U.S. rare earths processing market.
