Great to see Homes NSW and NSW Government investing in the future of homes delivery by partnering with Building 4.0 CRC. We currently have 67000 families on the waiting list for social and affordable accomodation - many of which are at risk women, children. There is an estimated shortage of more than 220k affordable homes TODAY. With construction industry running at full capacity, this shortage is adding to the affordability and availability crisis. Targets are great, but deliver nothing. Active, practical and deliberate support by governments to create a new industry that will support tens of thousands of manufacturing jobs (think flexible, safe and inclusive positions) to deliver housing faster, safer, better and wirh less waste. PT Blink is ready to support this initiativeand deliver more housing NOW!
Why are we investing in modern methods of construction (MMC)? MMC can help us build new social homes faster, including in regional areas where traditional construction is expensive and there can be trade scarcity and material supply issues. Last week we spent an eventful 2 days at Sydney Build Expo, sharing and speaking with people across the building and construction industry about our vision to deliver more high quality homes for NSW using MMC. With more than 20,000 attendees, the expo delivered valuable insights and expertise around: ✅ Journey to adoption ✅ Breaking down barriers and building opportunity ✅ Scaling up and pipelines ✅ Designs and sustainability ✅ Creating more jobs and education opportunities ✅ Positive tenant experience and outcomes Thank you to everyone who participated in our workshop, attended our panel and visited our stall to learn more. Great news! The Arthur D. Little Viewpoint on the European Renovation Wave, authored by Dominique Trancart, Kurt Baes, Frederik Van Oene, Amaury Terlinden, and myself, has been published. With 35 million buildings set for renovation in this decade, the European residential renovation market holds immense potential, offering opportunities for the construction sector. The pace of this growth will hinge on overcoming challenges like labor shortages, varied technologies, financing gaps, and weak support. Success lies in collaborative efforts from supply and demand stakeholders. 🤔 Can the EU member states achieve the ambitious renovation goals, considering the current slowdown in renovations? #building #renovationwave #construction #europeanunion

We began our Thrive Alliance consortia forums yesterday in Adelaide. Tomorrow, we will have another session with tens of millions of dollars of R&D in place and ready to scale up on the 21st of May in Sydney to begin to meet the staggering shortage of affordable/social housing open to the NSW Govt joining us in our planned showcasing project. "Speed to market "is the market opportunity for advanced modular construction. The Thrive Alliance has over 100,000 major urban reference projects worldwide. Our "Thrive Alliance" Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) in Australia and internationally is made from renewable plantation forest trees. CLT=stored carbon capacity is up to 40,000 inclusive "residential grade" midrise apartments per year, targeting the "Essential Workers" and Baby Boomers. This includes social housing on a scale (including disability workers) across Australia, including Regional Australia, built in up to 75% less time than current custom. A concept below in CLT is a walkable urban village with a sense of community where people can look out for each other, near Railway Stations, Tram stops, Jobs, shopping, Schools, Hospitals, and amenities. https://lnkd.in/gWyWuHD

▶ The need for affordable housing and the use of digitalization: these were the topics in the recent meeting with Sören Bartol, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB). Together with Clemens Kuhlemann from Deutsche POROTON, our Chief Digital Officer & Chief Human Resources Officer, Michael Leicht, engaged in a fruitful dialogue emphasizing the importance of affordable housing and leveraging digitalization for a more efficient and sustainable construction industry. As part of the Coalition for Sustainable Solid Construction, we advocate for technological innovation and openness in the sector to achieve cost-effective and sustainable housing solutions. Through initiatives like BIM-based planning and digitalization, we're not only boosting efficiency but also reducing costs and waste throughout the construction process. Michael Leicht: “We look forward to continuing our dialogue with the BMWSB to jointly address the future of housing in Germany.” #construction

Quality modular construction. 🏗 What a great way to contribute to Australia's housing targets. 👏
Yesterday, our CEO Bruce Nicholson joined a thought leadership panel of industry leaders hosted by Hon Ed Husic MP, Minister for Industry and Science. The discussion focused on how the modular industry could ramp up to contribute even more to ambitious national housing targets and the challenges and opportunities in doing so. It's great to see modular construction being recognised across society as a way of building quality homes faster so more Australians can have a roof over their heads sooner. Whether its quality, speed, cost or sustainability, the benefits of modular construction are clear. #housing #innovation #modularhousing #construction #housingshortage
