A long (and potentially boring!) post for business nerds and geeks. The S’ word; STRATEGY’. Arguably, one of the most overused and perhaps misused words in the business lexicon (AKA jargon!) ie: Vision - ‘what’ Mission - ‘why’ Tactics - ‘day to day decisions/options, resources, tools for the journey’ Strategy - ‘how’ Talent - ‘who’ ‘Synergies’ - common sense ways of doing things easier/better. Some years ago; we took a decision as a business to fundamentally revisit and re-imagine our vision and mission. It seemed evident that the market - specifically; the direction of travel, opportunities, politics, economics, new technologies and global dynamics (and other ‘stuff’) was changing - fast and radically. Effective business strategies are designed to ensure success in a new and emerging landscape - as the saying goes; ‘when you find yourself in a new landscape - you need a new and better map’. On a range of options - ranging from: BAU/more of the same to creative, innovative, radical and disruptive - the consensus amongst investors and principles was that we needed to recalibrate to benefit from and align to where investment and opportunities were heading - innovation. Our stated objectives and strategic goals included: ⚪ Repositioning the business into; high skill, high tech, high pay, STEM biased markets and sectors ⚪ Work with destination employers and brands - offering outstanding career pathways, professional investment ⚪ Build our business beyond the UK - into EMEA and international ⚪ Embrace new technologies and fully integrated end to end ⚪ Utilise candidate-centric platforms to ensure a 24/7/365 - anytime, anywhere, any device reach ⚪ Evolve our core offering to include complementary RPO/BPO services ⚪ Embrace a ‘frictionless’ approach to everything we do - the best ‘part’ being ‘no’ part process. Mindful that having capital, vision, aspiration, objectives, opportunities, process, ideas, hubris (!), systems/tech, channels to market, experience - (lots of ‘how’ and ‘what’ - without the right WHO - our plans were potentially built on sand). Making the strategic appointments is essential - the recent arrival of Russ M. to head up our specialist search business is a case in point. Having the ‘who’ is often the enabler, ignition and catalyst for the business strategy - Stella Redgrave-Nevison and James Macbeth! Another pillar of our high skilled, high tech, gold standard clients Recruitment 2.0 strategy is the major investment into our sister company; Indigo Healthcare Recruitment - already a highly regarded and well engineered international recruiter of high skilled, in demand - clinical/primary healthcare professionals. This of course, is only the beginning - we have a long way to go, much work to do and no doubt - some challenges ahead. The said; we have a business blueprint that we believe in and a highly energised and ambitious leadership team to help execute it. #Businessstrategy #Talent #Innovation
Much is made of strategic appointments - the recent arrival of Russ M. - to head up our specialist international search business is a case in point. Having the ‘who’ is often the enabler, ignition and catalyst for the business strategy. We’re delighted to welcome Russ back to the business. His appointment is critical to our executive/technical search ambitions - and further evidence of our conviction/commitment to our NxTGeN future growth plan. Along with Stella Redgrave-Nevison, James Macbeth and others - we're building a succession team - that's Built to Last. Some years ago; we took a decision as a business to fundamentally revisit and re-imagine our vision and mission. A cornerstone of which is to reposition into; high skilled, high tech, high pay - destination careers with gold standard employers. Russ brings a wealth of experience, exceptional networks and proven capabilities to help boost and evolve our executive/technical search capabilities. Welcome Russ. #Recruitment #Executivesearch #Internationalrecruitment #Talent

Acquisitions: The Good, The Bad, and The Real! Last week, I was chatting with a friend about a major acquisition that just happened in the employment background screening industry. Out of nowhere, he asked, “I hope CheckMinistry isn’t getting acquired.” That really made me pause and think. Acquisitions can bring a lot of opportunities, but they also come with their fair share of challenges. It’s easy to get excited about new beginnings, but we all know the road to success is often a bit bumpy at first. For us in the industry, worries about disruptions in service, changes in product quality, or even price hikes are all very real. And let’s not forget the fear of losing that personal touch or the potential clash of cultures that can change the whole vibe of a company. As leaders, we have to make sure we handle change the right way, keeping our teams, clients, and values front and centre. The key is focusing on what really matters: consistent service, quality, and meaningful relationships that stand the test of time.

Growth Platforms As seen in Hunt Scanlon Media's recently released 2024 Executive Recruiting State of the Industry Report, the #coaching and #assessments space has become an integral part of professional development in the corporate world and search firms have taken notice, as they seek to further enlarge their platform offerings. True Search, No. 6 on Hunt Scanlon’s rankings, recently acquired Bleeker, an executive coaching and assessment company. Integrated human capital models in the future will look very different than the ones we see today. “What we envision is a coordinated, highly interconnected human capital matrix that works in unison to provide a highly tiered, strategic approach to #talent management. It has been a slow build to this point, but we believe integrated human capital solutions are the new growth platforms for search firms,” said Cody Crook, managing director of Hunt Scanlon Ventures. The news from T2/ Gearbox is upsetting. At this point, we should stop cheering when major acquisitions occur between two major companies. Just because your "favs" are married now doesn't mean there won't be repercussions. These acquisitions benefit the company and inevitably will always end in some form of layoff to the workers who, mind you, are told ad nauseum that their jobs are safe so they cannot prepare themselves and/or start looking for other employment. It will always be a surprise. Do game workers need to add protections from acquisitions to their hiring contracts as well?
