A new episode in the now common controversy of #genAI, this time in the comic world. The creation of a new proposal, Lumi, specifically aimed at generating comics, has once again sparked another wave of backlash from artists in the field. Since its early proposals, #genAI has, and will continue to, ruffle feathers in almost every creative sector. We already have some rulings on the matter, such as the case of GitHub Copilot, which seems to understand the nature of the problem. Models learn during their training; they do not retain training data (except for overfitting, an element that is always avoided in favor of the model’s generalization capabilities). Whether we like it or not, models ‘learn’ by seeing, listening, etc., with many analogies to our own biological neural networks. Any possible hindrance or attempt to obstruct the training and deployment of these models is unlikely to succeed due to the nature of their training and the global nature of their potential deployment on the Internet. However, #genAI, in its process of democratizing complex and creative tasks, will offer new opportunities for new creatives, new talents, who will surely see the potential synergy of their talent with these new tools. https://lnkd.in/deuC2fgN
