Installation of Self-Drilling Anchor Bolts has been completed as part of the primary support system for the tunnel excavation. The project is dealing with significant geological challenges, requiring careful attention to safety measures throughout the process. This crucial work is being carried out by AECOM and MaxInfra under the supervision of RVNL, as part of the Rishikesh-Karnprayag Rail Project, Package 7A. The installation is a key component of the ongoing civil engineering efforts to ensure the stability of the tunnel structure during excavation. The construction of Nakhel Nakhda Port, which was recently completed under the supervision of our company, had been stopped from 2014 to 2023 due to budgetary reasons, as shown in figure 1. The figure 2 shows the bathymetric difference between October 2018 and April 2007. Negative numbers indicate increasing depth (erosion). As we can see, deepened areas have been formed at the ends of the two breakwater heads. Additionally, a region with a large increase in depth has occurred to the east of the constructed structure. These changes are mainly the result of the interaction between the wave and the structure (wave induced currents). The analysis of these events is very interesting in terms of coastal engineering. Figure 3 shows the completed phase one of this project.

Artigo Cientifico Publicado: Barreto, M. de P., & Teixeira, S. H. C. (2024). Analysis of the percolation flow of 133 earth and rockfill dams and control values for flow meters. 17(1), 15–34. e-ISSN: 1988-7833, Qualis: A4 10(1), 518–536 - DOI: 10.55905/revconv.17n.1-002 https://lnkd.in/d3B8i-3G Abstract: Worldwide, legal measures have been intensified with the aim of reducing dam accidents through government management and oversight. However, it is important to emphasize the evaluation of damages and anomalies caused by dam breaches. Geotechnical engineering currently benefits from a vast collection of data obtained through geotechnical instrumentation monitoring, which provides valuable information for the verification and validation of new projects. Utilizing this data helps in interpreting the static and dynamic behaviour of geotechnical structures, as well as supporting the adjustment and calibration of physical and computational models regarding the infiltration behaviour through dam embankments. The primary objective of this research is to consolidate real data from the monitoring history of executed and operational works in Brazil, contributing to the analysis of instrumentation through the inclusion of real flow rate values observed in flow meters. Moreover, it aims to enrich existing data in bibliographic references that assist in analysing the sensitivity of instrumentation readings. The accessed data were selected from the database of a design company, typically consisting of construction reports and historical data of instrumentation readings related to the monitoring of Brazilian dams. The results comprise consolidated real data of specific infiltration flow rates in earth and rockfill dams. Keywords: dams, barrages & reservoirs, earth and rockfill dam, field instrumentation, monitoring, flow meter, specific flow rate, total flow rate.

Whether you're an engineer or not, you may have noticed slopes alongside roads or in landscapes and why wondered why they sometimes fail! Several factors contribute to this issue: 🔶 EROSION: Natural processes like rain and wind can erode the soil, leading to collapse or sliding 🔶 POOR DRAINAGE: Inadequate drainage systems can cause water accumulation, increasing the weight and instability of slopes 🔶 GEOLOGY: Besides geometry, certain soil types, such as clay, can expand when wet and contract when dry, causing long-term instability 🔶 VEGETATION: While essential for stabilization, excessive vegetation can add weight or hinder drainage 🔶 CONSTRUCTION AND DESIGN ISSUES: Improper design that overlooks a slope's angle, soil type, or load-bearing capacity can compromise stability 🔶 EXTERNAL FACTORS: Earthquakes, heavy rainfall, loads, or additional stress can lead to failure Proper soil stabilization is crucial to prevent these issues and minimize failure. When facing this project challenge, harness the power of a Novel Polymeric Alloy (NPA) Geocell as an effective solution. Let's discuss how we can help: https://hubs.li/Q02GY4WJ0 #StratumLogics #Engineering #Slopes #Geocell #NPA #IGS #AASSHTO #CSCE #ASCE #Construction #SlopeFailure

Soil testing in civil engineering goes beyond simply digging dirt. It plays a crucial role in establishing a solid foundation for safe and efficient construction. With the advancements in technology, borehole soil testing has become an integral part of geotechnical engineering. It provides accurate and reliable data that is essential for civil engineering projects. Real-World Applications Borehole soil testing involves drilling deep into the earth to obtain soil samples. This allows civil engineers to assess the soil's properties, strength, and suitability for construction. The data obtained from these tests is crucial for designing foundations, retaining walls, and other structural elements. It ensures that infrastructure is built on solid ground. Disadvantages of Not Performing Soil Testing Choosing to forgo soil testing in civil engineering can have catastrophic consequences. It can lead to structural failures, costly repairs, and compromised safety. Without accurate data, construction projects are at risk of encountering unforeseen soil-related issues that could have been avoided through proper testing and analysis. If you are involved in civil engineering projects, it is crucial to recognize the significance of borehole soil testing. Embracing advanced techniques can help secure the success and safety of your endeavors.
