Welcome to the practical field of water and wastewater treatment, Aurea! Great achievement of the involved teams of Wageningen University & Research and Royal HaskoningDHV. I see enormous potential in this sustainable water purification process for organic micro-pollutants. And here is a nice line-up: 1) First purify by Nereda wastewater treatment technology, which revolutionized and modernized biological wastewater treatment, while 2) harvesting Kaumera biopolymer from the obtained surplus aerobic granular sludge and before 3) applying Ephyra’s advanced plug-flow digestion to maximize biogas recovery from remaining sludges. Then polish obtained Nereda effluent with Aurea to a superb treated water quality!
Removing micro-contaminants with a very low CO2 impact In collaboration with Wageningen University & Research we developed a sustainable solution for removing micro-pollutants from water: Aurea®. Pharmaceutical residues, hormones, antibiotics, and crop protection agents: micro-pollutants are appearing everywhere in our environment. They threaten the aquatic environment and our sources of drinking water. “The European Directive requires sewage treatment plants to remove 80% of micro-pollutants, while also demanding that this has to be done in an energy-neutral and circular manner. Aurea demonstrates removal efficiencies exceeding 90%,” says Arnoud de Wilt, our consultant Micropollutants & Wastewater Technology.
