A recent breakthrough within the hydrogen industry has occurred, in the form of TCP Group producing five hundred fuel cell mobile lighting towers. These have not only been created, but are also at the point at which they are available to hire, along with the support of a fully managed service. A new collaboration between ANDRITZ and Cell Impact has been set up, in order to focus on the advancement of large-scale, high-speed production of bipolar flow plates for fuel cells and electrolysers. A New Old Industry is born. Just like Benjamin Button, the Hydrogen industry in Europe is taking its baby steps in the shape and methods of an old industry. Between electrons, molecules and regulation, the industry urgently needs a different mindset, and different methods and processes (maybe even a stronger bet on digitalisation) to take faster steps towards the ambitious goals for 2030. There is still time to re-think this new industry, and maybe by adding more innovation and different ways of thinking we can make it turn younger, stronger, faster, as it grows. Recently, an independent trial took place, which revealed that Advanced Hydrogen Technologies (AHT) Group’s hydrogen generator, effectively reduced the emissions of a Class 08 locomotive, based within the UK.
