🎉 Congratulations to our member Topsoe who has been chosen as a technology provider and engineering partner for the Triskelion project, located in Galicia, Spain. The Triskelion project will produce 40,000 tons of e-Methanol annually, while capturing and using c. 56,000 tons of CO2. The e-Methanol is intended for applications in the shipping and chemicals industries. 🚢 🏭 When the project is in full operation, it will expectedly enable an annual emission avoidance of app. 860,000 tons of CO2e – the equivalent of avoiding the emissions of approximately 200.000 gasoline-powered passenger vehicles driven for a year. Kim Hedegaard, CEO Power-to-X at Topsoe, stated: “We are excited to be selected as the technology provider for this promising project. e-Methanol will act as a key driver in decarbonizing the energy-intensive sectors and may be one of the leading e-fuels used in reducing carbon emissions in industries such as international shipping. Topsoe and Forestal del Atlántico have a shared ambition to make the Triskelion project a European leader in this space, and we look forward to working together to turning these ambitions into reality.” Find out more in the press release: https://lnkd.in/dYuZiu8K

📢 Wolftank Group consolidates its excellent position in the European hydrogen sector with new orders totalling EUR 10 million, confirming its expertise and commitment to innovation. ✔️ On the one hand, the regions of Carinthia in Austria and South Tyrol in Italy will be the new recipients of our innovative hydrogen technologies. The two new contracts, worth more than EUR 8 million, will focus on the construction of two hydrogen refueling stations for public transport: ◾ In Carinthia, on behalf of our project partner GUTMANN GmbH, the new hydrogen station will refuel 35 public buses in Villach. ◾ In South Tyrol, we will develop our second hydrogen filling station for SASA SpA - AG (sasa), this time in the city of Merano in cooperation with Gemmo S.p.A.. 15 hydrogen buses and other vehicles with 700-bar technology will benefit. ✔️ On the other hand, we are also committed to decarbonizing a highly polluting sector: construction machinery. This step into a new market segment is based on an installation of a hydrogen refueling station for a pilot project in an Austrian quarry. The project volume amounts to almost EUR 2 million. In short, new markets and new developments confirm that the hydrogen economy is a priority for the Group, be it in public transport, intralogistics or even in other industries that are difficult to electrify. 👉 For more details: https://lnkd.in/dpbpjGMv #hydrogen #innovation #newcontracts #publictransport #constructionmachinery #Austria #Italy #Energizingthefuture

“Aker Solutions and SLB Capturi awarded contract for Hafslund Celsio’s #CarbonCaptureandStorage Solution” “Aker Solutions and SLB Capturi have been awarded a contract for the carbon capture and storage solution at Hafslund Celsio’s #wastetoenergy plant in Oslo, Norway. The contract will deliver a #carboncaptureplant, a #liquefactionsystem, temporary storage, and loading facility at the #wasteincineration site. It also includes an intermediate #CO2storage and #shiploadingsystem at Oslo harbour. The project is an important milestone in the development of a full-scale #CO2valuechain in Norway, as part of the Norwegian Government’s Longship project.” “The waste-to-energy plant at Klemetsrud is the largest #carbonemitter in Oslo and is responsible for 19% of the capital’s #fossilcarbonemissions. The project will be delivered based on SLB Capturi’s modularized Just Catch™ 400 unit and when operational, the carbon capture plant is expected to capture 350,000 metric tonnes of #CO2 per year. The space efficient Just Catch product design has been fundamental to enabling a viable, cost-effective solution by reducing onsite footprint, installation and outfitting work.” ““Today marks a significant milestone for Aker Solutions and the #CCUS industry in Norway. We are proud to be part of this key project and look forward to contributing to effective project execution, based on three decades of experience in the #CCS market. This project is a testament to important public and private collaboration to build an industrial value chain for carbon capture and storage. The project will also significantly contribute to #reducingemissions and will create value for both industry and society,” said Kjetel Digre, chief executive officer for Aker Solutions.” https://lnkd.in/e34RTPAj? FlagshipONE and FuelEU Maritime We heard the news yesterday of Orsted scrapping FlagshipONE, the pioneering e-methanol project in Northern Sweden. The project has previously announced financial support from the Breakthrough Energy Catalyst, EIB, and European Commission. In addition to significantly higher costs, one of the reasons cited for the cancellation was the "inability to sign long-term offtake contracts at sustainable pricing". These offtake contracts should be driven by regulatory measures set under FuelEU Maritime, but as with many large-scale innovative projects, developers face a significant first-mover disadvantage. The first project is more expensive than the nth project, and offtakers can play a waiting game for cheaper fuels. Conditional clauses such as Article 5 Paragraph 5 of FuelEU Maritime do not help. This clause allows RFNBO targets to be removed if there is assessed to be "insufficient production capacity and availability of RFNBO to the maritime sector, uneven geographical distribution or a too high price". This is also known as a self-fulfilling prophecy. The risk: if insufficient numbers of project developers are brave enough to build these first projects, the business case for the brave few is removed. A 'wait and see' approach becomes attractive for those businesses that want certainty on project profitability (see: all businesses). This is not an isolated incident: uncertainty on the use of 'carbon neutral fuels' in the revised heavy-duty CO2 standards prevents investment in genuinely zero emission freight technology. Policymakers can help to solve this: certainty on the negative repercussions of doing nothing is a much greater motivation for businesses than the high-risk potential rewards of being a first mover. In summary: Without certainty, clarity, and consistency on regulation, we will fall behind on decarbonisation targets. This will be far more expensive than any solution available to us today. Eni’s Livorno Biorefinery Project: Navigating Regulatory Approvals As the world transitions towards more sustainable energy solutions, Eni, a leading energy company, is at the forefront of this movement with its ambitious biorefinery project in Livorno, Italy. The initiative, designed to transform Italy’s third bio-refinery, is a significant step towards Eni’s decarbonization strategy and its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. #### Regulatory Hurdles and Preparatory Works In the quest to kickstart construction, Eni isawaiting the final regulatory approvals. The Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MOEES) is the primary regulatory body overseeing the project, with local authorities also playing a crucial role in the approval process. The company received preliminary approvals in January 2024, but the single authorization and associated building permits are still pending. While awaiting formal authorization, Eni has been actively preparing the site. On-site preparatory works have been ongoing since the beginning of the year, laying the groundwork for the conversion of the Livorno industrial site into a cutting-edge biorefinery. The designated areas are now ready for the next phase of development, marking a significant step towards the realization of the project. #### Ecofining Technology and Production Capacity Once operational, the Livorno biorefinery will utilize Eni’s proprietary Ecofining™ technology to process various biogenic feedstocks, primarily vegetable waste and residues. This technology allows for the production of hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) diesel, HVO naphtha, and bio-LPG, all in line with the European Renewable Energy Directive. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 500,000 tonnes, contributing significantly to Eni’s overall biorefining capacity. #### Decarbonization Strategy and Bio-Refining Capacity Eni’s broader strategy focuses on
