I had the honor and pleasure of participating in a meaningful tree-planting initiative in Kumanovo, supported through the EU for Clean Air project. This initiative marks a significant step toward improving air quality and enhancing urban green spaces, contributing to a healthier environment for all citizens. The effort began in November and continues with the planting of 760 saplings, including today’s addition of 210 trees. These efforts are part of a broader plan to transform key areas of the city into greener, cleaner spaces. By December 20, we will carry out further tree-planting activities at three important locations: Park Sokolana, the city park, and the riverside. In total, we will plant 1,815 high-quality native trees across Kumanovo. Each tree we plant today represents a step forward—reducing air pollution, combating climate change, and enhancing the natural beauty of the city. The EU for Clean Air project, funded by the European Union with €10 million, addresses critical environmental challenges by supporting clean energy solutions, urban greening, and air quality improvements. Here in Kumanovo, the project also includes modernizing heating systems in public buildings, promoting eco-friendly transportation, and creating green belts to further improve the environment. It was a privilege to plant trees alongside the local community today. Together, we are building a healthier, greener, and more sustainable future for Kumanovo.
