As a Cisco Collaboration Solutions Engineer, I frequently engage with customers to understand their video conferencing needs for their various meeting room spaces. While standard small and medium-sized meeting rooms can be easily specced with our all-in-one Cisco Room Bars and Bar Pros, larger hybrid meeting room environments often require more nuanced solutions. Over a year ago, Cisco introduced AES67 microphone integration with our codecs, enabling seamless connections to third-party AES67 microphones. This development greatly simplifies the mic integration for larger meeting rooms with an increased ROI. However, in hybrid spaces like training rooms, auditoriums, and town halls—where hand-held, lapel, or goose-neck microphones are often used together with external speakers, a single control panel to manage the codec, and the microphones and peripherials has been something that I hear from customers alot. In this casual video, we explore this specific use case by demonstrating how to use the Cisco Room Navigator control panel (paired with a Cisco Room Bar Pro in Microsoft Teams Rooms mode) to manage the different microphones that are connected behind a DSP. Using intuitive widgets created on the Cisco Codec allows us to seamlessly interface with microphone control logic on the DSP end.
