Tomorrow is looking like it’s going to be a great day! Over the last number of years there have been two great EU #H2020 funded projects looking at how we can better adopt #IPM. The projects are IPMWORKS and IPM Decisions. Over the course of the project IPMworks have run demo events for 10,000 farmers and number of pesticide applications (Treatment Frequency Index) have been reduced by 30% The conference tomorrow will present results & tools produced by the two projects, with testimonials of farmers and advisors describing real world success stories. #greendeal, #sustainableagriculture, #integratedpestmanagement, #biocontrol, #biopesticides Delphy, ILVO (Instituut voor Landbouw, Visserij- en Voedingsonderzoek), Aarhus University, ADAS, CIHEAM Zaragoza, INRAE, CONSULAI, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, COEXPHAL, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Copa--Cogeca, FEUGA. Interested in getting a more sustainable food system? 🥑 🍅 It's time to support the change in the current European regulatory framework. Join us in signing the letter by the Biocontrol Coalition to the European Parliament at https://lnkd.in/e2NJ6Rhb 📝 #regulation #EU #sustainability #startup
✒ More organisations signing our open letter ✒ We are happy to announce that Alliance Biocontrôle has signed our open letter addressed to President Ursula von der Leyen in response to her address to the European Parliament on February 1st, where she highlighted the challenges surrounding the Sustainable Use Regulation (SUR) and emphasized the need for "more dialogue and a different approach," our coalition of stakeholders comprising farmers, consumers, and biocontrol producers has taken action. At the Biocontrol Coalition, we are advocating for greater biocontrol innovation in Europe, recognizing its role in fostering more sustainable food systems. However, we recognize the hurdles posed by the current European regulatory framework in achieving this vision. Hence, we urge the Commission to prioritize a dedicated item in its 2024-29 work program aimed at promoting and facilitating the adoption of more biocontrol innovation in the market. With its signature, Alliance Biocontrôle has joined a multistakeholder group of stakeholders, including the industry, consumers, and farmers, that support our message. As our coalition grows stronger, we continue amplifying our voice and advocating for change. 💡 Read and sign our Open letter using this link: https://lnkd.in/e2NJ6Rhb Aphea.Bio Atlántica Agrícola Certis Belchim Diachem S.p.A. 🌾 Will Aphea.Bio's biofungicides get regulatory approval? Aphea.Bio, a Belgium-based provider of microbial solutions for agriculture, has submitted its first applications to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for federal approval of its biofungicides, VALORIA and VIRTUOSA. These biofungicides, derived from Aphea.Bio's APEXbio technology platform, are designed to offer sustainable and economically viable solutions for major diseases affecting wheat, fruit, and vegetables. VALORIA is aimed at wheat diseases like: 👉 head blight 👉 yellow rust 👉 leaf blotch 👉 powdery mildew Meanwhile, VIRTUOSA targets diseases in fruits and vegetables like grey mold and powdery mildew. These products, based on a Streptomyces strain, boast several advantageous features including: 👉 ease of use 👉 a two-year shelf life at ambient temperatures 👉 compatibility with existing agricultural chemicals. Aphea.Bio's application submissions come after three years of extensive field testing, which confirmed that the microbial strain used has a very low-risk profile, with no adverse effects in toxicity studies and no identified ecotoxicological risks. CEO Isabel Vercauteren highlighted the significance of this milestone, noting that it showcases the versatility and efficacy of the APEXbio platform in delivering biostimulants and biocontrol solutions. Aphea.Bio is planning to proceed with international registrations, including submissions in the European Union and California, as they await the outcome of the EPA's regulatory review.
