I saw firsthand how "othering" can negatively impact the outcome of projects when working on an M&A project. Despite having a team with diverse backgrounds and skill sets, there was an unconscious bias towards a particular way of doing things. This led to great ideas from some team members being dismissed simply because they didn't fit the mould. As such the project felt uninspiring and missed out on the potential of its diverse team. It was also very frustrating for everyone involved. The team members felt undervalued, and the client missed out on the innovation that could have come from embracing different perspectives. This experience highlighted the importance of challenging "othering" behaviours. By fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels heard, we can unlock the true potential of our teams and achieve greater success. As a proud member of the Central Organizing Team for the International Leadership Competition, I recently had the chance of participating in an engaging and informative workshop. Which was dedicated to providing guidance and clarity about the competition. This workshop was an incredible opportunity to deepen participant's understanding of the competition's structure, goals, and best practices for ensuring its success. It also explained the immense value of collaboration, innovation, and leadership on an international scale. Moreover, it discussed about the levels of the competition, which are 1.District Level 2.
