In a recent Washington Post Live interview, Bill Gross, CEO of ProRata.ai, shared groundbreaking insights into the transformative potential of AI in media. Bill argues that AI platforms should follow the Spotify/YouTube model, sharing revenue with content creators - just like musicians get paid when their songs are streamed, journalists should be compensated when their work contributes to AI-generated answers. The new AI search isn't just about getting answers—it's about knowing WHERE those answers come from. #AITech #generativeAI #FutureOfJournalism #AISearch #CreatorEconomy

What Could/Should Be the Role of AI in the Newsroom? Data dignity, content credentials and defeating the deepfakes NAB Amplify is the dynamic, digital hub for the media and entertainment industry, delivering vital information, fostering expert dialogue, and providing continuous education to the NAB Show community. AI is about to significantly impact the news business, from how news stories and videos are created, to on-camera talent and how consumers get their news. “People are reacting to AI as the worst thing that has ever happened to humanity or welcoming it as the most wonderful godsend,” says Judy Parnall, head of standards & industry at BBC. “We know we can’t avoid it. The question is how can we harness it for good to improve the process of news gathering and to increase trust in the truth of our reporting.” https://lnkd.in/gcQqNud4 https://lnkd.in/gMUHkdgi Just a totally realistic view of a broadcast studio, not at all generated with prompts.

I’ve been thinking for sometime about the potential for a new revenue stream system based on generatively-derived works, and was delighted to hear rumblings of that notion from industry peers on the panels at the recent Signals Festival in Vancouver. I think there’s plenty of room for an indie-level compensation system that utilizes blockchain as a cross-index matrix to any person or groups work contained in a generative model, and contributes microroyalty payments off of any derived works from those data points. This initiative from ProRata.ai feels like a strong potential, for legacy content brands at least, to be the ideological wedge to make this ubiquitously stick. Fingers, and pocket books, crossed! 🤞 #ai #content #economy #ecosphere #blockchain #royalties #newhorizons

The New York Times vs. Perplexity - a clash of titans in the digital age! 💥 The Times' cease and desist letter is just the tip of the iceberg. It's a stark reminder that the tension between traditional media and AI is heating up. A recent study shows that nearly 70% of media organizations are worried about AI using their content without permission. It's time for some serious conversations about ethics and copyright. I believe we need a balance. ⚖️ AI innovation is exciting, but it shouldn't come at the cost of creators' rights. If we can find common ground, everyone wins. Media professionals can protect their work and earn revenue, while AI companies can build partnerships and improve their reputations. Let's have a real conversation about the future of digital content. Could technology similar to NFT art protection be used to protect content creators' rights? Digital watermarks, provenance tracking, and smart contracts could help prevent unauthorized use of content while allowing for responsible AI development. Share your thoughts! 💡 #Media #AI #Copyright #Innovation #ContentCreators #Ethics #Partnerships #Journalism

This is a great read and I'm glad people are making these criticisms of AI and big tech with conviction and honesty. If you're in this industry, IMO you should be reading *at least* as much bubble-bursting stuff like this about the future prospects of AI as you're reading about how it's going to change the world and make incredible amounts of money. https://lnkd.in/etBHm6jc
