The New York Times vs. Perplexity - a clash of titans in the digital age! 💥 The Times' cease and desist letter is just the tip of the iceberg. It's a stark reminder that the tension between traditional media and AI is heating up. A recent study shows that nearly 70% of media organizations are worried about AI using their content without permission. It's time for some serious conversations about ethics and copyright. I believe we need a balance. ⚖️ AI innovation is exciting, but it shouldn't come at the cost of creators' rights. If we can find common ground, everyone wins. Media professionals can protect their work and earn revenue, while AI companies can build partnerships and improve their reputations. Let's have a real conversation about the future of digital content. Could technology similar to NFT art protection be used to protect content creators' rights? Digital watermarks, provenance tracking, and smart contracts could help prevent unauthorized use of content while allowing for responsible AI development. Share your thoughts! 💡 #Media #AI #Copyright #Innovation #ContentCreators #Ethics #Partnerships #Journalism

UK Creator Alliance Just Dropped A Bombshell On AI Companies – Here’s What They’re Demanding: The UK Creators' Rights Alliance, representing over 500,000 professional creators, has issued a letter demanding transparency and compensation from AI companies using copyrighted works for training models without permission. The alliance outlined seven key demands, including providing transparency on works used, obtaining advance authorization, offering remuneration, giving attribution, engaging in licensing negotiations, and respecting creators' rights to withhold consent. This move reflects growing concerns in the creative community over AI's impact on intellectual property rights, as major tech firms have been found using content from thousands of YouTube videos and other copyrighted materials to train AI models without creators' knowledge or consent. 👉🏼 Comment below for link to read the full article! 👉🏼 Don't forget to subscribe to our weekly newsletter so you don't miss any of the top stories in the #influencermarketing world. #InfluencerMarketing #Influencer #CreatorAlliance #AI #Transparency #Compensation

Building Trust is the Key to AI-at-Scale Scaling AI hinges on one crucial factor: TRUST. As Tim O'Reilly recently wrote, this requires that we take account of "AI's original sin": 🌐 Ethics & Copyright: Transparent handling of copyright and ethical issues. 🌐 Fair Value Distribution: Creating equitable models for all stakeholders. 🌐 Respect for Content Creators: Ensuring AI-generated outputs credit original sources. 🌐 Open Source AI: Building participatory AI systems that respect content ownership. What does that mean in practice? Leading with TRUST requires that digital leaders to: ✅ Advocate for transparency and accountability. ✅ Invest in explainable AI technologies. ✅ Build diverse teams for fairness. ✅ Foster a culture of ethical innovation. The New York Times is doubling down in its fight against unauthorized use of its content by generative #AIstartups. This time, it’s targeting #JeffBezos-backed Perplexity, issuing a cease and desist letter demanding that the startup stop using its carefully crafted journalism without permission. The Wall Street Journal reports that NYT accuses Perplexity of violating copyright laws, claiming the AI tool has been "unjustly enriched" by summarizing its articles without a license. This isn’t the first AI showdown for the publisher—NYT is also suing OpenAI for similar copyright infringement. Perplexity’s CEO, Aravind Srinivas, however, expressed a willingness to cooperate, saying, “We have no interest in being anyone’s antagonist here.” As AI continues to push boundaries, will we see more publishers joining the fight? For the latest updates, stay tuned to Founding Startups. #AI #Perplexity #JeffBezos #TheNewYorkTimes #CopyrightInfringement #GenerativeAI #AInews #TechNews #FoundingStartups #NewYorkTimes #AI #Perplexity #TechNews #Innovation #MediaBattles #FutureOfJournalism

Love this article from our Founder on the potential impacts of a bill proposed to regulate Gen-AI. "It’s notoriously hard to prove definitively whether any given model is trained on any given work. This bill could change all of that." If passed, content from AI models would likely become more expensive and less diverse. If this bill doesn't get through, it's almost certain that AI companies would double down on their usage of copyrighted material. Either way, there's no replacement for genuine human connection and authentic content helps you achieve that better than any model can. #genai #digitalmarketing #content #UGC
It’s been incredible to witness the growing significance of licensing, particularly with the advancements in #genai. Although licensing data may seem intimidating, it’s uplifting to see content creators, artists, authors, and everyday creators take pride in their work and support their creative communities. At the core of this controversial topic is the unilateral acknowledgment that creativity is one of humanity’s most unique and valuable qualities. What’s next for the world of licensing and AI? I’m curious to hear your thoughts! 📸 P.S. Like the featured photo on this post? Shoutout to @bryanbanducci from our Creator Community!

Governments should do more to protect intellectual property and personal data as various organisations accelerate making AI more intelligent. Businesses developing AI should also be responsible enough to compensate owners of data being used to train AI. Users provide the information by subscribing to the various platforms without any form of compensation for the use of their data. Compensating the owners of data used to train AI is the right thing to do! Doing so will ensure we are not robbing Peter to pay Paul. #AI #ethics #CSI #openAI

Can creators assert copyright on human-generated prompts used by AI tools? Generative AI is transforming the creative industry by enhancing artistic expression and collaboration. Platforms like YouTube and tools like OpenAI’s Jukedeck empower creators with innovative ways to generate content. However, this technology also raises significant intellectual property and copyright issues, particularly regarding the ownership and protection of human-generated prompts used to guide AI in creating content. The legal landscape struggles to keep pace with these advancements, leading to debates over authorship, attribution, and monetization. The future of AI in creativity hinges on developing ethical frameworks, inclusive strategies, and robust industry collaborations to ensure AI serves as a catalyst for creativity without compromising human integrity. Addressing intellectual property rights, especially for human-generated prompts, is crucial to protecting creators and maintaining the integrity of artistic expression in the digital age. #GenerativeAI #IntellectualProperty (IP) #Copyright #Humangeneratedprompts #Regulatorychallenges #Digitalage #AIassistedcreation #Creativeintegrity #Smartcontracts #IPAttorneys #AdvocatesLawyers
