Someone asked me other day ! Does Helping Beggars Make Sense? and my answer was - Well ! the decision to help beggars is a deeply personal one, shaped by individual values, experiences, and circumstances, extending a hand of kindness to those in need may be one of the most meaningful acts we can undertake. In doing so, we affirm our shared humanity and contribute to the creation of a more just and compassionate society. So, does helping beggars make sense? Perhaps the question we should ask ourselves is: can we afford not to? #Compassion #SocialJustice #Empathy #Humanity #CommunitySupport #PovertyAlleviation #SocioeconomicEquality #Philanthropy #Homelessness #SupportLocalCharities #EthicalGiving #Solidarity

My social media theme for October is #Philanthropy. This week is #NationalEstatePlanningAwarenessWeek. For many individuals, wading into the process of estate planning can feel daunting—the U.S. tax code is complex and there are a myriad of strategies to choose from; how do you determine which is the right fit? The process may be simplified by breaking estate planning into three phases and creating a roadmap through each phase with well tested estate planning tools and techniques. Check out the article linked below for more information, and feel free to reach out to see how we may be able to work together. #EstatePlanning #FinancialRoadmap #FamilyWealthDirector Visit my website: https://lnkd.in/dJ5VXNF _____

Today, we’re reminded that small acts of kindness can make a world of difference. At Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity, we see kindness every day—in volunteers who lend a helping hand, donors who give from the heart, and neighbors who support each other. On this World Kindness Day, let’s continue to build a community grounded in compassion and care. Together, we’re creating homes filled with love, and neighborhoods built on kindness. How will you spread kindness today? #WorldKindnessDay

Kudos to Joseph Brooks, Betsy Erickson, and Molly Lyons on your Purposeful Planning Institute webinar this morning. Thanks to the three of you for highlighting the 10 psychological barriers to giving. Many of them are familiar to me given my interaction with donors. ➡️ too many choices I often hear people express how overwhelmed they are by all the choices and then not knowing how to choose. ➡️ fear of attention or public scrutiny I work with some donors who prefer to give anonymously because they don't want the attention. They don't want to be on everyone's donor list. ➡️ worrying that you need to learn more to make good decisions Even this can become overwhelming--there's so much to learn--when before the answers came easily as the CEO of their company. ➡️ lack of time Oh we all feel this one, don't we??? These are just a few of the barriers that were discussed this morning. And amazingly some of the solutions for behavioral or mindset shifts around these barriers are small and simple. So, don't let them get in your way! Want to learn more? Check out the report for yourself. #giving #philanthropy #barriers #philanthropyadvising

#MondayMotivation - Successful major gift officers establish deep emotional connections. They know they must be adept at finding and communicating a genuine emotional tie to the mission of the nonprofit they represent. Donors are often influenced by their emotions rather than purely logical reasoning. This makes it crucial for gift officers to be skilled storytellers, sharing narratives that resonate on an emotional level. Authenticity and integrity are essential in this process, as donors can easily discern insincerity. Gift officers with high emotional intelligence can comprehend the emotional needs and motivations behind a philanthropist's giving decision and adapt their fundraising conversations accordingly. #emotionalintelligence #healthphilanthropy #philanthropy #healthgiving #majorgifts #majorgiftofficers

One of the most profound expressions of human kindness is empathy. The ability to understand and share the feelings of others lies at the heart of compassion. When we empathize with someone, we are able to connect with them on a deeper level, offering support, comfort, and understanding. Whether it's comforting a friend in distress or lending a listening ear to a stranger, empathy fosters a sense of unity and belonging. Kindness also extends beyond individual interactions to collective efforts aimed at alleviating suffering and promoting well-being on a larger scale. Charitable organizations, volunteer groups, and community initiatives exemplify the power of collective kindness. From disaster relief efforts to initiatives tackling social injustice, these endeavors demonstrate humanity's capacity to unite in the face of adversity and make a positive impact on the world. In a world often characterized by strife and discord, acts of kindness serve as beacons of hope, reminding us of our shared humanity and the potential for positive change. Whether it's a simple act of kindness or a monumental gesture, each instance contributes to a ripple effect of goodwill, inspiring others to pay it forward. Ultimately, the kind nature of humans reminds us that compassion, empathy, and generosity are not just admirable traits but essential aspects of what it means to be human. By nurturing these qualities within ourselves and fostering a culture of kindness in our communities, we can create a more compassionate and harmonious world for all. #Humanity #KindnessCounts #MakeADifference #LoveAndKindness #ChooseKindness #EmpowerOthers #BuildingConnections #UnityInKindness

To the surprise of no one, giving to human services increased during the pandemic. But here’s the best news: #giving is still up! We believe that the pandemic shed a bright light on basic needs that weren’t being met, and drove many #Americans to step up their support. We love seeing such great news reflected in data 🌟 #Philanthropy #GivingTrends #GivingUSA2024 #GivingUSA #HumanServices #PandemicGiving
