Day 25: Iterating on the Value Proposition - Bite Size I’ve been refining our vision to capture its full scope and impact in a highly condensed manner. Here’s where we stand: Pareto.Systems is building a decentralized ecosystem that democratizes education, opportunity, and empowerment through cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices. Our approach: Lived Iteration. Develop tools for innovation, ensuring universal accessibility while protecting user data and privacy. Open source where we can. Create a blockchain-based economic model that fairly rewards contributions and fosters community-driven development. Implement real-world sustainable living solutions, from renewable energy to local food tech. Establish a transparent, democratic governance structure that scales globally. All just words. Until they are action.

The Climate Brick: The missing manual for scaling climate tech. I am not an engineer, but I crave to understand The Big How of the global energy and mobility transition required. www.climatebrick.com This report uses metaphor, language, and visual design in a way that makes the concepts tangible and understandable. Focused on European climate tech, "The Climate Brick" published by EQT Ventures and Contrarian Ventures aims to help companies scale faster with step-by-step guides based on their different types of hardware and go-to-market journeys. (Link to PDF in comments) The goal is to "demystify climate tech scaling" while not dumbing down data and statistics. The 7 Climate Bricks for building (and scaling) an economically viable, less carbon-intensive economy and build environment are: 1. Gigascaling 2. Green Deployment 3. Asset-as-a-Service 4. Product Disruption 5. New Technology 6. Moonshot 7. Companion Software #dataviz #greentech #climatetech #climatebricks #energytransition #visualexplaination #visualcommunication

🫶Omg. Love this.- as a hardware + software startup studio / network focused on climate solutions - we know that the path to market isn’t always clear (from the start) and more importantly timing of potential solutions to market forces, head and tailwinds. Where if you step back and model planetary deep-tech solutions, which tend to focus around IP, R&D., economics of manufacturing and cost/speed of adoption/deployment… they often need alternative paths of commercialization (not always early stage venture “typical” or conducive to heavily dilutive capital in the earlier stages) and should leverage market minded investors / operators to help get the stages of development and thus capital strategically aligned early on (to say the least) we focus on the applied hardware to data rich solutions that can help create / drive / support the overall market adoptions trends…so that the market is ready to adopt to the business models and the fundamental economic behavior changes needed to adopt awsome climates technologies
❓ How can we facilitate scaling up emerging climate technologies? We talked to hundreds of founders and it’s clear that while ambitions are high, there are still a lot of challenges when it comes to scaling climate hardware solutions. 🤝 So, we teamed up with our friends at Norrsken and Speedinvest to help give ambitious early-stage hardware founders the best chances of success. Introducing: THE HARDWARE PLAYBOOK: 📚👩🏻💻 A guide packed with data, recommendations, expert insights, and tools to help founders build and scale hardware solutions. Key topics include👇 👩🏼🔬 What a winning team looks like 📊 Picking the right metrics 💸 Hitting the right financing mix 🇪🇺 Understanding and leveraging EU policy Essentially, everything you need to succeed: 🔗 Dive in now: www.climate-hardware.com Kudos to authors Jessica Burley, Florian Schabus, Kim D., Christian zu Jeddeloh, and Sophia Escheu. ❗Are you building something in the green tech hardware space? Climate technologies have the potential to abate 90% of 2050 global emissions if deployed at scale. However, there is a lack of clarity for founders and investors around the climate tech scaling journey. Recently launched by EQT Ventures, The Climate Brick aims to establish a framework for European climate tech scaling. The framework has seven bricks, each representing a different business profile/focus, e.g. new technology, companion software etc. Each brick provides a scaling playbook derived from analysis of top quartile scaling journeys. I was pleased to see that in the "new technology" brick, where businesses are focused on developing disruptive technology, the first "critical unlock" is for a company to establish an IP moat through, e.g. patents. An essential consideration at the start of a tech scaling journey. It will be interesting to see if The Climate Brick enables more companies to bring disruptive technologies to market. A link to the website is provided in the comments. 👇 #IP #intellectualproperty #patent #cleantech #climatetech #technology #scaling

[Published in April 2024] 🌍💰 Climate tech struggles with funding due to high initial capital needs and risk, with only 16% of the sector currently serviced. 🌱🔍 Strategies to make climate tech bankable include demystifying complex tech, de-risking investments, and designing creative funding mechanisms. 🚀🌾 Innovative approaches like extended fund cycles and evergreen funds could bridge the gap to profitability and attract more private investment into climate tech.
Climate tech has a bankability problem, but there are 3 ways to fix that
