“Now is a great time to be a software builder.” 👩💻 That was one of the standout sound bites of the evening. From Mark Caulfield, Co-founder and CEO of the finalist and highly commended Rethink Carbon at the #GeovationInnovationAwards last week. There’s never been better access to data, technology and tools. What a breath of positive fresh air. All the major manifestos promise support for tech and innovation in the run-up to the UK general election. For me, two pledges in particular are interesting. The notion of a National Data Library to open up access to data – fundamental for innovation. And of the Regulatory Innovation Office tasked with dealing with red tape to speed up regulatory approvals and encourage cross-sector innovation. Open data and collaboration surely must form the basis for an agenda for growth. By which I mean progress. Fixing stuff and creating a better world, rather than profit for profit’s sake. Bring on the optimism.

Can we find ways to fund technology that helps us be together as a society, that considers cultural contexts, that includes leadership that is representative of the people who use the technology, that doesn't operate on attention economies and engagement metrics? The Council on Tech and Social Cohesion is sponsoring a project to research this topic from the perspective of funders, investors, grant makers, and alternative finance experts. I've had some great conversations so far and can't wait to share our findings. If you are or know someone I should talk to, please reach out!

💡 “Bisly is in an excellent position, and it has the team capable of rising to the occasion. The global intelligent building market is expected to hit $148 billion by 2027. That, together with ESG measures growing stricter in order to meet the EU’s carbon neutrality goals, mean there is virtually no limit for how far a practical solution like Bisly’s can go." Urvo Männama, Co-founder of Foxway 🔎 Read how our investors evaluate Bisly, how the A series process went and what makes Bisly a strong player in the smart building automation world: 👇 https://lnkd.in/dk22VVA4 Vestbee #Bisly #SeriesA #proptech #cleantech

Today’s advice from Grant Cardone: #BreakTraditionalIdeas. That old line, “Well, we’ve always done it this way,” is a red flag. Anytime I hear it, I stop and ask—why? Why have we always done it this way? And why haven’t we tried other approaches? Now, I’m not saying we need to reinvent the wheel every time, but there are moments when things feel stagnant, or they’re simply not delivering the results they used to. In times like these, #InnovationBecomesCritical. We need to be #OpenToBringingNewIdeasToTheTable, trying different strategies, and evolving with the times. What’s key here is having a system to #MeasureTheEffectivenessOfThoseNewIdeas. When we try something new, we need metrics to see if it’s truly better than what came before. It’s not about discarding the old ways but about exploring if there are ways that can adapt better to current realities. The market changes, needs evolve, and technology advances—and so should our approach. What worked in the past was good, but what if there’s an even better way? What if a new perspective could bring more value, greater efficiency, or stronger impact? This is why breaking traditional ideas is essential. By being open to change and fostering a culture of innovation, we don’t just keep up with the market—we set ourselves up to lead. Thanks for checking this out. Get out there, do great things, inspire folks, and be kind.
