A busy week with arbitration filings and also a partial settlement to start, and the ICC Arbitration 9th APAC International Arbitration Conference and one "other" event to finish. Last night was a fabulous ICC Arbitration Supper Club expertly organised by Christine Artero and Dimitris Katsikis and with Douglas Jones AO in attendance. The theme of today's ICC Arbitration event is “Looking ahead: shaping the international arbitration ecosystem” and introduces the recently unveiled ICC Arbitration Jus Connect McCann Worldgroup "Report on Cross Cultural Business" (https://lnkd.in/gzvJicmF). Today boasts a strong programme and set of speakers. I am personally looking forward to this afternoon's session titled "The ICC Court in action: A behind-the-scenes look at the Challenge of Arbitrators" which features the ICC's very own Claudia Salomon, Alexander Fessas, Yvonne Mak and Xin Zhang. Click for more details on today's event: https://lnkd.in/gnpEw6fG. The "other" event is one that I am now dreading and am, not entirely unsurprisingly, unprepared for: HYROX APAC Singapore at the National Stadium tomorrow morning. Whenever I mention my participation and chronic lack of preparation to people with knowledge of the event, the consistent response is an amused smirk! Based on the material I now have, my current concern / hope is that I am allowed to wear a t-shirt. Oh dear ... #ICC #InternationalArbitration #9thICCAPACConference #Singapore #Challenge #HYROX #IncreasinglyConcerned #SHDisputes

📢 Seminar 17 April 2024 – AD HOC ARBITRATION: Time to part ways with an old friend? We are very pleased to invite you to a panel discussion where we will explore the use of ad hoc arbitration in Norway and discuss if institutional arbitration should be used more frequently. Some of the issues we will debate are: • What are the advantages and disadvantages of ad hoc and institutional arbitration? • Why is ad hoc arbitration still the most common choice in Norway? • Is ad hoc arbitration still preferred by some in the other Nordic countries? • What can and should be done to increase the use of the OCC? • Should there be more Nordic collaboration? • Is NOMA a step in the right direction or the final stop? We are fortunate to have panelists from all the major institutions, who will offer valuable insight. We also encourage contributions from the participants.
