I'd like to get a recording if possible; if anyone can help with that—probably just minding a phone on a tripod—I'd be grateful. My talk title will be "Success, Failure, and Meaning as a Postdoc", and here is the abstract: Postdocs often face enormous uncertainty in their career trajectories, where they will live next, and what their lives will be like. I share personal reflections from a time in my career when I spent five years as a postdoc, spanning two universities, four positions, and several consecutive years on the academic job market. I also share thoughts on how to care for career goals in a personally sustainable way, and how difficult periods in one's work can hold redemptive value.
