Recently the US National Science and Technology Council released a forward-looking report called Vision, Needs, and Proposed Actions for Data for the Bioeconomy Initiative, that presents the groundwork for seamless data access and use across experiments and platforms.   At Next Rung Technology we’ve seen planning and design through to the construction of commercial-size plants, and we work with our clients daily to share best practices around data management, so we thought we'd share some context and our insights on the matter in this latest blog post. https://lnkd.in/enTgusvb Stephen Lacy Josh Wimble #bioeconomy #datamanagement

When we're working on new plants we have the choice and the opportunity to develop a data infrastructure that contextualizes data and make it useful for future analysis. This can create a wealth of learnings for future-you without spending another dime on additional experimentation... Maybe you'll use past production data to validate a hypothesis about the mechanisms of particle formation of cell growth that you hadn't even dreamed up when running the pilot plant. I've had the opportunity to work on a lot of really interesting data projects in the past -- soft sensors, enhanced experimental designs, and Bayesian inference based parameter estimation for process modeling -- all of which would have been impossible with out good data management and access to historical data.

🏆 Breakthrough Winner Spotlight: River Deep Mountain AI  🏆 NWG (Northumbrian Water Group) - and partners including ADAS, Cognizant, Northern Ireland Water, Stream: Unlocking Water Data, The Rivers Trust, Tidal, Google, Uisce Éireann Irish Water, Water Research Centre Limited, Xylem Water Solutions UK & Ireland and a number of water companies - will develop open-source, scalable, digital models to inform effective action to tackle waterbody pollution. The project’s novel use of Machine Learning will efficiently analyse existing data and new diverse data inputs. This will unlock new insights into the complex factors impacting waterbodies, bringing deeper understanding and accelerating positive change.
