You may think that saying “No to Free Design” is unimportant and none of your concern. But our creative lives, the livelihoods of designers, are suffering because of this mindset—because of you🫵🏻 Yes, it’s you,🫵🏻the designers themselves, contributing to the decline of your own profession.
You 🫵🏻might tell yourself, “It’s okay to be not okay,” but take a look at the damage that attitude has done to our industry. Free design won’t put food on your table or pay your bills.
Those who ask for free proposals degrade themselves by treating designers like beggars. It’s time to put an end to free design. If not you🫵🏻, then who?
If not now, ….. then when?!!
Read this book “ The Dark Side of Free Design “ ! - then you know what the mess 🫵🏻 You have course to our beautiful industry!

The Power of Detail-Oriented Design: Lessons from Japan
Since landing in Japan, I've been captivated not only by its stunning cityscapes but also by the meticulous attention to detail evident in even the smallest of things. It's not just about grand innovation, like in the UAE or the USA, but about the thoughtful design of every element within a space.
Take, for example, this standing table at the Tokyu Plaza Harajuku (Harakado) terrace garden, designed by Hiroshi Nakamura & NAP Co., Ltd. It is designed for enjoying a cup of coffee while taking in the Tokyo skyline, it seamlessly integrates four different elements to create a durable, maintenance-free surface at the perfect height. This seemingly small detail speaks volumes about the Japanese design attitude: prioritizing a problem-solving approach and meticulous craftsmanship over mere aesthetics.
This experience was part of the TADA event with TOSTEM India where we explored Tokyo's architectural gems like this one. It highlighted how detail-oriented design, focused on enhancing the user experience, can truly elevate our living spaces.
What are your thoughts on this approach to design? Do you prioritize meticulous detail and problem-solving in your own work?

Interesting conversations took place on the Panel at The Hotel Conclave on #sustainability#design and #architecture
some key take aways from the conference :
* more conversations and awareness required on sustainability in hospitality
*it should be on the check list and as important as FLS
* in greenfield projects keep the room bay size and shape identical for materials to be ordered in bulk in execution
* let's build faster !
