🍀 Promoting sustainability through arbitration? 🍀 Castrén & Snellman and Delos Dispute Resolution are hosting a joint breakfast seminar to discuss the ways in which arbitration can promote sustainability and tackle climate change. The risk of ESG disputes is now a part of corporate reality, regardless of a company's line of business. Arbitration can play an important role in resolving such disputes internationally. The arbitration community is also becoming increasingly aware of the carbon footprint of arbitration proceedings, and several tools have been developed to make arbitration a greener practice. We warmly welcome corporate legal counsel and other corporate personnel involved in arbitration or ESG matters to join us in discussing these topical issues by registering at events@castren.fi.

As consumers, regulators and investors seek to hold companies accountable for their environmental and social impact, will we see a surge in ESG-related disputes? What types of disputes will take center stage, and how should they be resolved? Is arbitration the answer, and are arbitrators and counsel prepared for the complexities of ESG cases? Join us on November 18 for a discussion with Matthew E. Draper, Brooke Skartvedt Guven, Daniel Greineder and José Antonio Vázquez Cobo as we explore these and other questions. The event will be hosted at New York City Bar Association as part of New York Arbitration Week. We are very much looking forward to giving a presentation on ESG and Compliance in a M&A context at the annual two-day conference, “Advokatenes fagdager”, organized by Advokatforeningen (the Norwegian Bar Association) and JUS - Juristenes Utdanningssenter (the Center for Continuing Legal Education). Addressing ESG in a transactional context involves a multi-faceted approach where lawyers can play a pivotal role. M&A is a central part of Schjødt's practice throughout our Scandinavian and UK platform, and ESG/Compliance is a high-priority legal practice area for our firm. We will share practical tips and methodologies on how to integrate ESG considerations and risk assessments into due diligence processes, as well as providing strategies to mitigate identified risks through structuring of the deal, negotiating the contractual framework and post-closing implementation.
